  1. been awhile since i posted in here but recently my 20x swapped legacy has been purrin and no problems since the swap until now.... rt before i was about to get tuned so here it is

i have a stage 2 clutch my driveway is on a steep hill as i was backing up i stalled do to almost getting clapped leaving my driveway and visibility was shit i tried saving it as i stalled and i didn't, started it back up and it went into limp mode ive had this problem before and all i did was unplug a sensor and let it sit and it was all good but now

i cant fix it i have codes for bank 1&2 tps and throttle petal sensor and map sensor i have the new sensors installed at 90degrees but i think my tgv are still not calibrated right

any ideas im about to tow it to my mechanic just for sensors to be installed... and i rlly dont wanna do that

  2. i have a couple of things im impatient and just dont know were to start just seeing if i can get some help

1st question is a month ago i had the manual transmission drain plug replaced cause it was leaking badly did a fluid flush as well

the tranny does not grind or pop but my driver side axle is also bad and jt seems to have leakage around my drain plug but just droplets again

2nd question iam getting new plug's thursday and i have a feeling my car will still be misfiring it seems to me that its the injectors but still seems to have hesitation when it idles below 1rpm is that cause avcs us unplugged

one i put gallons of injector cleaner into my car reset the emc i only get codes for tgv deletes and sometimes cylinders 1and 2 it used to be 124

if anyone can help me w these it would be a godsend

Delete the codes.  Most code checkers will reset the ecm when they clear all codes.  Some will have a function.  If you have a tactrix cable or an AP you can use that too.

i have a code reader thats able to delete them i deleted them and just going to wait and see if it happens again

Its a swap, it could e a few things.  Basics first.  Air, fuel, spark, compression, timing.

my tuner was trying to tell me timing shouldn't have nothing to do with it and i kinda laughed i think hes wrong or maybe i am

and i completely forgot about this at first car threw 15 codes all coming from the maf sensor and throttle position sensor and intake temperature sensor so i unplugged my maf plugged it back in and then all those codes were gone and all i had was those 4 codes about misfire

could it also be ecu being stupid??

Should not be misfiring.  Check coils and plugs first.

    thats what im saying

its all of them besides cylinder 3 but the car also drives fine it hasn't loss power but it does idle funky

my mechanic did say he checkef the plugs but i dont know if he checked them all

and when thr motor was shipped it was actually missing a 1 coilpack

so maybe before me it was needing changed idk im going to change plugs and boots and run a compression test as well

i gave it a thought to if it was the ecu miss reading

Did you tap the oil ports on the intake cam ends and plug them?  Did you install the usdm non-avcs pulley on the exhaust cams?  Are you using the USDM injectors or the smaller JDM injectors?

You did not mention a full ecm and wire harness swap to jdm.  So you are not going to get dual avcs.  You need to mechanically deactivate the exhaust avcs and keep the forward cam journals oiled.  You need the usdm injectors.

There are several ways to perform the swap.  Each has his own opinion on what is "right".

yes tapped the ports usdm harness and injectors kept the twinscroll

but did not retard the timing planned on having my tuner do that

Even if Kentucky may not care, that's an individual state in a sea of many that are regulated by the EPA.  You'll be hard pressed to find a tuner that can rid you of emissions related codes.

i got a tuner actually based off in ohio he said they dont have strong emissions both in ohio and kentucky but other states ofc varies but i mean i only drive between ohio and ky trust me living here theres cars that have no pipes at all from the headers running 😭😭

How did you plumb out of the turbo and into the throttle body with no intercooler? How was the maf reading air flow?  How was the air filter attached.

If the oil ports on the camshaft end were not drillled, tapped and plugged your mechanic does not know what they are doing and the engine should never have been started.

he let it idle its not like he revved it aur flow was good on it too

Reading posts like this purturb me.  So let me be blunt. If you did not seal the exhaust cam oil ports but just disconnected the avcs and left the avcs gears intact the exhaust cams have defaulted to full advance (over advanced). At the same time the exhaust cam forward journal is oil starved.  If you did not use the usdm injectors the jdm are quiet a bit smaller so you were running scary lean.

So you ran the car at idle for 1 hour with no intercooler. So no intake, filter and maf. The entire time possibly oil starving the cam journals and stupid lean. And you expected a positive outcome?

If this is what you did, you dorked the engine. Buy another and keep trashing them.

i wish i can add a video of it idling so you can hear it

i didnt do this go after my mechanic it had a startup warranty he had to start it started it and then let it run idle w maf plugged everything was there just idled w no intercooler

Avcs unplugged but did you seal the cam oil ports? Usdm injectors or the jdm that came with the engine?

Temp spike could be water pump/coolant flow related. If pump siezing it would add parasitic drag and resistance. Temp spike could be lean condition combined with excessive advanced timing.

All these things effect how the car drives. You can make a car idle like a purring kitten but not be driveable. No load at idle.

usdm injectors the oil ports no idea what he did w that but

i feel like im not getting my info rt when my mechanic started it w no intercooler it idled fine then i cam along put my intercooler on drove it with bov vaccum connected temps rised parked it then now it idles funny and has a very small miss

As you answered none of the relevant questions I posed concerning the swap (more than one way to do it) and you apperently did not check engine health pre-install I can not assist.

usdm intake no tun avcs unplugged motor was healthy before installing after installation it idled healthy we did this for an hour

couldn't drive it cause obviously we needed a intercooler so i installed it then now idles rough and hesitates and i dont wanna drive it and then temp spike up

Dang you did what so many do, the dreaded EJ2X swap, always a problem. I have seen the shop that did my car do a JDM EJ207 swap and it was MINT, but it cost and no problem, I thought about that, but naw. Good luck man.

its actually not bad i had a mechanic whos not qualified on subies do it my buddy has his swapped and its going on 6 yrs no problems people don't understand its a small problem thats fixable hell i prob didnt attach the intercooler on right if only i can attach the vids im sure someone could diagnose it

Reset the ecm.  Depending on how hard you drove it with the vac leak could be related or not.

Usdm ecm?  No tune? Oil ports on exhaust cams blocked? Non avcs gears on exhaust cams?  Using usdm or jdm injectors?

Any data or logging? Compression/leak down done prior to installing engine?

people keep saying vaccum leak when it idles with this intercooler on it hesitates but at before we had it off with no intercooler it was fine

  15. swapped my legacy with a 20x i have videos of it purrin with no hesitation or misfire but this was without the intercooler on we just wanted to start it

we installed the intercooler but forgot to attach the bov vaccum hose took jt for a drive the temperature shot up and got hot

now it idles w hesitation and when it does idle the temp stays in the middle we have not drove it since we attached the vaccum hose line but now it has a weird hesitation in the idle i need help im lost kinda desperate facebook mechanics see to look at my stuff and not help
