Because of the almost daily carjackings in my city, I resubscribed to Subaru's Starlink in case my car gets stolen (preferably not with me in it). The current Subaru.com and MySubaru.com websites still state that I am entitled to a free update if I am an active subscriber. There is a February 2022 deadline mentioned for the retirement of 3G.
For example, MySubaru.com today still says, “Your Subaru Retailer will offer a complimentary update for vehicles like yours with an active STARLINK® subscription. This will ensure you can continue to access important STARLINK® Safety & Security services.” This is not a statement in the past tense.
When I went in my dealer today for my appointment, I was told that the deadline for a free update was January 15, 2022, but that I could pay about $900 for the software update.
Was there an email that went out with the January 15, 2022, deadline? Does anyone have any thoughts about this?
I am appealing to Subaru to honor the free update. As a fallback, I am mentioning that there are legal implications to making representations on websites that are not honored.
