I just received the replacement hood support struts. As I attempted to install them, I discovered that the OEM hood support struts cannot be separated from the ball socket.
Now that I must buy new ball sockets (sockets did not come with the struts), does anyone know the thread pitch and bolt diameter of the hood support ball socket for the 2010 Legacy?

I bought replacement hood support struts for my 2010 Legacy. While attempting to remove the struts from the ball sockets, It appears that the ball sockets cannot be separated from the strut. There are no removable retention clips on the struts.
I have never seen a hood support strut that requires both ball sockets to be replaced with the strut. What is the thread pitch and bold diameter for the Subaru Legacy hood strut ball socket?

I've been looking for at least one YouTube on how to change the plugs on a 2010 Legacy, bot have yet to see anything. There are lots of vids on Ourbacks, but none for the 2010 Legacy. I went out to the garage on kind of get my bearings of where things are and what may need to be moved. The plugs seem to shrouded, on both sides by some kind of bracket that seems to support other external engine components.

Today, I ordered a 2014 Home Link mirror on Ebay. I found one for a fantastic, price complete with the cable and center cable manager. For all I know, the stock cable for the dimmer mirror may work just fine. We'll see how it all goes. I will report back with results.

the harness should be able to power the homelink mirror. I did the swap myself from auto-dimming to homelink mirror with no issues
Great. I am looking at a couple of options on Ebay. This is a great idea, to update the mirror to add home link. Was the mirror you added from the same model year as your car? My car is a 2010. The mirror I am considering is from a 2014. Will that be a problem in terms of the power cable connectors?

I found a home link mirror from a 2014 Legacy, complete with the cable with connectors on both ends. Some sellers cut the cables or sell the mirrors with no cables at all.
Will a 2014 home link mirror fully function on my 2010 Legacy with only auto dimming?

Too SWEET. Question. Will the wiring harness on the back of my (non-smart Link) mirror still connect and function with the features on the Smart Link mirror?

Thanks for the reply. My mirror has only one button. The other buttons are not there. So, I have no Smart Link. Oh well...

I recently bought a 2010 Legacy (First Subaru). Under the rearview mirror, facing me is a single button with the power button symbol. On either side of the button are indicator lights. It seems to be that this car has no Smart Link. Or is it located in another location that I have not yet seen?
Any help is appreciated.

Either the Legacy is the step child of the Subaru line. Or, it is massively difficult to work on. Because there so few how-to YouTube videos. The intake box is that box on top of the engine?
