  1. I will probably verify and see if it is the tensioner. The heat shields have been hose clamped and now it makes less noise. Part of the heatshields closest to the engine were damaged/ loose.
  2. Not sure if they replaced the timing belt tensioner. All I know is that they did the head gasket because I saw an MLS gasket in the engine and the timing belt looks like an aftermarket ACDelco. A bunch of the belts was replaced and they are ACDelco.
  3. I just bought a 2009 Subaru Outback that recently had a clacking noise at 2500rpm to 3500rpm. The head gasket was previously changed, and the timing belt was done at 146000kms now it is at 173000kms. A Subaru Master Mechanic/ Red Seal said that he guarantees that noise is from the heat shields. A different mechanic who works with a lot of Subarus said that it could be the timing belt tensioner or the crank. The noise is present when revving up in neutral and when in gear. The noise does go away at higher rpms. The noise is also very throttle dependant. If I gradually press on the accelerator it is more noticeable. https://imgur.com/gallery/9NTBWYB https://imgur.com/gallery/MgvAbld https://imgur.com/gallery/FxeORpk https://imgur.com/gallery/CKbLwyF
  4. The seller said he wanted to bring it into a Subaru Dealership before we would meet. I asked what needed to be done on the car and he stated that wanted it to be checked 100% before selling it. So I will be seeing it next week and I will call the dealership and ask if a 05 Legacy GT has been serviced/inspected there.
  5. I am looking at a 2005 Subaru Legacy GT (non-JDM) in a manual. It has 93141kms yes that's right under 100,000kms. 2 owners, the guy stated that he obtained the car 4 weeks ago after his friend passed away. The guy states that all the maintenance has been done and that it was serviced at a local Subaru Dealership. Price is $10500cad or $8250usd I know that I will need to check the Banjo Bolt, de-cat the up pipe, and change the timing belt at some point. What do I need to know before I take a look at it? I intend on making it a daily driver. I want to try and leave the car mostly stock and not abuse it. Additionally, I want to get it inspected, should I just go to the Subaru Dealership in North Vancouver, Canada? Thanks
