  1. So I successfully reprogrammed the key to see if that was the issue but it still didn't start the car (opening door, switching from LOCK to ON 10 times and inputting the 8 digit key code twice). Sometimes when I insert that same key, the engine will begin to turn but will not turn all the way. Most of the time nothing will happen when I turn the key with the exception of lighting up the dash indicator lights.

Subaru recently replaced my ECM and I suppose this is the cause of the second set of keys not working. How technical is it to program the keys to the new ECM?

    This is a 2012 Subaru Legacy 3.6R

    Thank you in advance.

  2. Someone keyed my car, scratching my fuel door in the process. Therefore I am trying to remove the fuel door on my Legacy. There are two metal tab-like pieces that hold it in place with a hole in the middle, however I don't see anything with the clear purpose of removing them.

Why does this have to be so difficult? Other cars have regular 10mm bolts.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

  3. Not sure the CAI was a good idea. Definitely lost low end hp. Rpms seem to get stuck sometimes when I'm spirited in my driving. 0-60 in hot weather is so sluggish.

As far as the Nameless ABE, I love the sound. Not too loud and has a sweet hum when in a tunnel. Drivers side muffler is a little off center so need to get on fixing that.

After finding out the Mustang fogs are a direct fit, I was quick to change out those ugly stock fogs.

Next I have to change my front bumper cover as it has damage to it. I've been looking for a F3T cover in good shape but haven't had any luck. All junkyards have everything else in F3T except my bumper cover!

I also put on Stop Tech rotors and CarboTech 1521 pads all around. Great performance!

Lastly, I changed my driver's side front door due to the fact that at highway speeds, you could hear the sound of air penetrating the inside of the car. Most likely the previous owner had to slimmy the car to get it unlocked, which bent the outer plastic hence the air noise. Spent $300 for a junkyard door in excellent shape. Very few scratches and the same color at that. Funny story - the junkyard was a police impound and while I drove my car inside to have them put the door in the backseat, some crazy woman was awaiting her escape in her vehicle. She sped out once she saw the first opportunity.

  4. Just to make sure, the new pads didn't come with hardware? If your old stuff is stainless steel, which it likely is, you can clean it up and reuse it. These days I try to buy pads that include new stainless hardware (Edit: I guess what I'm trying to say with that is, unless you love the pads, I'd return/exchange them for pads that come with hardware)

Yeah the expensive pads I bought didn't come with a kit. Any idea what the part number is - if any - for the 3.6R 2012?

  5. Hello there. I am looking for the following:

    Front bumper cover w/ fogs

    Hood w/scoop,

    Trunk lid w/spoiler

    Metallic Gray F3T color code

Will pick up or pay shipping depending on distance.

Also looking for anything cool you may be getting rid of that'd fit my Leggy. Specifically a brake kit.

    Thanks in advance!

  6. Hello I have a '12 Legacy 3.6R and am looking to swap the trunk lid for one with the spoiler and brake light. I am also looking to swap the hood for one with a hood scoop because it looks cooler.

For the trunk lid, how would I go about wiring the new spoiler brake light?

I am also in need of a front bumper cover F3T. Mine is damaged.

    Thanks

  7. The i8 style LED u-bar headlights look amazing (they're so bright compared to stock that the pics don't do them justice) however the Mustang fogs appear to be a little wider than OEM therefore I dont believe the full stream of light penetrates the housing due to the stock Lamp Covers.

Anyone have any insight on this? Unable to upload any other photos

  8. Essentially on the other side of both black boxes (or fuse holders) are single thick white wires connecting from each box and are spliced into what it looks to be a main loose wiring harness. I didn't try pulling the fuse just yet. Will give it a try.

30A is substantial for an add-on thing... what do the wires splice into? The thing taped in place looks to just be a fuse holder - what does the other part look like? Have you tried pulling the fuse to see if anything stops working?

If you can locate the harness and wires it ties into, you can chase down what they are for on the wiring diagram. There's probably a tap for power and ground, but could be any number of other things. If it were my car, I'd pull the fuse and see what happens. If nothing, I'd keep it pulled.

  9. Anyone have any idea what this black box is with the 30amp green fuses attached to each side of the wiring harness? Theres another black box on the other side of the harness (can only see the 2nd green amp in pic). The electrical tape looks newer. There are also two thick white wires connecting this box and are spliced into the harness.

Had the car for 4 months now.

So far I've been unable to find a tracker.

    Thanks in advance.

  10. Awesome I was searching for a MC brace and didn't come across anything for the 3.6. Where did you get your headers/where can I get a set and how hard is the install? I'm looking to put those in my 3.6 as well.

The braking power of the stock h6 calipers are more than plenty for pretty much everything. Get a good set of rotors, pads, and if youre so inclined a master cylinder brace, stainless steel lines, and DOT 4 fluid.

I'm running centric premium rotors, stop tech pads, master cylinder brace and goodrich ss lines and the car has great bite, excellent stopping power and removed the squish.

Now I wouldn't track with that setup but its absolutely fine for my raptor header 3.6r for everyday driving

  11. Might sound dumb but how the heck do you change the bulb in the Mustang Fogs?

2015-2017 Ford Mustang LED Fog lights (H11)

Part No FR3Z-15200-A (FR3B-15K201-AE stamped on light housing)

These are made by Valeo who is the OE supplier for Mercedes, Volvo, etc for LED DRLs and various light housings. These are direct fit for our 5th Gen Legacys.

The housing is identical to our stock fog lights in every dimension and include a male H11 socket for our female OEM harness connector. Plug and Play!!!

OEM Subaru fog housing is on the left.

Here are the pics. These took me a total of 20 minutes to install, no modifications necessary. As you can see, they use optics to create the unique light pattern and cutoff and appear to be somewhere in the 5k to 6k color temp range. (They look a little green in my daytime pics, that's just my phone)

Some night time pics. I absolutely love these. The pattern is very useful and far better than our stock fogs. You can see where the light is hitting the ground in front of the car.

  12. Are those axle sets for Brembo calipers, pads, and rotors? Good price if so.

But there is talk of Rockauto selling replica Brembo calipers, you may want to double check.

For the street, no need to change the calipers. I recommend Stoptech Street Performance 309 series pads and any of the rotors already mentioned here.

They are PowerStop so not sure of the quality. However when it comes to 2008+ for rears, can I just go with 2008+ fronts as well instead of 2004+?

  13. I found front and rear kits for WRX STi's 400-600.00. I guess I can just go for a '08+ STi front and rear kit since the rear has to be 2008+ anyway? What do you think of the price? (The screenshot only shows the front kit.)

Also, do the calipers have to be upgraded as well?

Do the 3.6's have the same brakes as the GT? Those are decent from the factory.

I went with Brembos and for the fronts you can use any STI generation Brembo all the way to latest yellows. For the rear you will need the 08-up black or yellow Brembos with the matching 08-up rotor which has the proper rotor offset. Just get dual drilled 5-100/114 rotors and they will bolt on. You will have to modify or remove the rotor splash shields to clear the bigger rotors. I just bent the front outwards and did some trimming at the rear so I could keep the shields because streetcar.

The big difference for me was in feel. Very nice modulation. Ultimate stopping power is probably not far from each other IMO.

Then I put on Stoptech Street Performance pads, very good initial bite with a bit more heat resistance. Makes for a very nice street setup IMO.

Best bang for buck? Probably stock brakes with Stoptech Street Performance pads.

  14. I think I'll stay away from the Cadillac route. Looks too complicated for a noob like me.

STi setup sounds about right. Does it require any special modifications?

if i remember right, because of the 5th gen's master cylinder and rear calipers, you need to use black sti brembo rears if you're upgrading to the cadillac fronts to keep some semblance of a correct brake bias...so while it's still less expensive than going for a full set of sti brembos, it's still not super cheap
  15. Does this require a high temp wire harness given that its a different bulb? Or do LEDs not burn hot?
