what makes a useful datalog?

we need a sticky or something so people can see what parameters to log. everytime someone posts their first log they log way too many things, or not enough. they dont run it all the way to redline, etc...

I do know that you should log in third gear, from around 2k rpm to redline. The reason for this is third gear is tall enough so your car doesnt rev up too quickly to get a good picture of whats going on inside the motor. But it isnt so tall that you're going 120+ mph on a public road.

Can we get a consensus on what parameters should be logged to be sure that your car is running safely on your current tune?

Engine Load* (g/rev)

Engine Speed (rpm)

Ignition Timing Total (degrees)

Knock Correction (degrees)

Manifold Relative Pressure (psi)

Mass Air Flow (g/s)

Primary Wastegate Duty Cycle (%)

Throttle Opening Angle (%)

Basically you need to do some pulls in 3rd gear from 2K RPM’s to redline. Once you get these done you also need to do some 4th gear WOT pulls. Typically from 2K-4K will be sufficient to see if you’re getting any knock in the high load areas.
