Prod
He's in an automatic 5.0 Mustang with CAI and exhaust. I'm in my stock LGT 5EAT. I launch at 2.7k. The results: 5.0 Mustang / Legacy GT R/T: .994 / .901 60': 2.497 / 2.355 330: 6.650 / 6.416 1/8: 9.999 / 9.768 MPH: 74.04 / 73.97 1000: 12.843 / 12.642 1/4: 15.256 / 15.042 MPH: 93.22 / 94.10 I guess I forgot to mention the light was on a tree. Anyways it was a good race, I almost hit 14's. A higher launch next time...

I was wondering how you managed to rev someone in a stock LGT and get their attention! These cars are quiet. 'Stealthy power,' as Motor Trend describes it. RangerMan
You just need to get that 60' down. Nice race!
Prod
Agreed on the 60'. A little higher launch and I should get high 14's. I'm thinking a high stall torque converter and AP stage 1 will get me to mid 14's. Right now I'm trying to justify spending the money...
Driver72
What year Mustang 5.0?? The Mustang 5.0's were really bad with the automatics. Late 80's to early 90's models might have run high 6's The mid 90's version was no better than mid 7's with the auto stock. It's no surprise you took him. A 2.3 60' time in the auto isn't that bad. I don't think you'd be able to do much better than MAYBE a 2.1 stock. How were the conditions at the track?

John M
Glad to see the Mustang's timeslip - my Grand Marquis was just as quick in the 1/8th mile. I find that quite comical.
RangerMan
The thing I can't believe is that there are still some stock (more or less CAI and exhaust isn't much) Mustang 5.0's in the world!
Prod
Conditions at the track were close to 75F and it's pretty close to sea level. Wind coming from the left. His car was a 1990 LX hatchback.
Driver72
Yeah, I owned three Mustang 5.0's Two LX 5.0's (1988 and 1989) MGT (1989) back in the late 80's and early 90's All were manual and they ran to 60 in about 6.0 seconds and low 14's in the 1/4. About as fast as it got back then, unless you owned a Corvette or exotic. The autos though ran about 6.8-7.0 seconds to 60 and low 15's in the 1/4 So again, his times were right on and means his car still runs damn good for that old of a car. And, an auto LGT would be a tick or so faster...as your outcome showed.

boris
Shift points and shift method (sport or manual)?
Prod
I manually shifted using the steering wheel buttons about 100 rpm before redline so by the time it shifted it had just barely hit the red zone. I found this is better than using sport mode or just leaving it in drive.
