jasejase
Some of those organic teas, have just as high sugar content as the other stuff. Be sure you read the labels
dudeondacouch
yup, and "sun tea" will as well if you put it in there. just because something is "natural" or "organic" doesn't mean it's good for you.
SBT
My weakness is homemade sweet tea. That's been hard to give up. BUT, doing so has also reduced my craving for other sweets, or at least helped to reinforce my abstention from them. - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -
dudeondacouch
yeah, i've (sadly) stopped brewing any tea because calories. i still have it every once in a while though, and it's like the nectar of the gods.
SBT
My NOTG is now fresh juice every morning - compliments of the Vita-Mix. Today's 12oz mix, is plum, celery, carrots, watermelon, banana, and spinach. Love the flavor combinations and my body appreciates (and values) the fiber. - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -

JJBerk
Read the label, just like anything else. Honest uses good ingredients. Some of their product is 'juice based' and consequently has much higher sugar content, but most of their teas are just tea. dudeondacouch
yep, that's why i love the little cans. (annoyingly, a 6-pack of 5.5oz cans is 90% as expensive as a 6-pack of 12oz cans though. )
SBT
Oh - and BTW - if you suffer from acid indigestion or heartburn, clean 3 8-10" stalks of celery and eat them raw. Fixed. Shared this with my internal medicine specialist after he mentioned that his M-I-L had chronic heartburn. Next visit, he relayed that the celery worked perfectly. He no longer prescribes the OTC meds, just fresh, raw, celery. - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -

SBT
Upped my lap-count to 40 today. Less time than the 30 laps earlier in the week, and less pausing. 25 meter length, 50 meter lap. ~1609.3 meters per mile, so 2000 meters or 1.24-ish miles. Making progress, but may have to take off tomorrow to recuperate from the sun. Don't want to overdo that aspect... - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -

SBT
Fidel - it's a good idea to make sure that you're hydrating while you're working out, especially in the heat and humidity of Dallas, TX's 100+* F and 65%+ humidity. Few things take down your motivation like dehydration, or sunstroke. - Pro amore Dei et patriam et populum -
jasejase
Absolutely. Hydrate through out the entire day. Depending on how long you are actually running, you may not need to drink during your run (likely that you won't).
famaya26
I need to start drinking more water. I tend to not drink water through out the day. Will start taking a bottle of water to work, refilling it and drinking it.

MiniStiGuy
famaya the number one thing of advice that will 100% get you down to your 10lb goal in probably a month is to cut out all sugars in your diet other than the ones you get from things like veggies and fruits. The way the body works for energy is that it processes sugars first as they are easy to break down than fat. The more sugars you have the less fat you burn because its feeding off the sugar instead. In regards to your running, try to run for 60 seconds and then walk another 30 seconds and then run again for 60 seconds. Give yourself a total time you want to run for and not a distance. Living in the lovely state of TX we unfortunately have to deal with these summers and as others said already you need to drink water all day long. If you have one of those regular small water bottles you buy at the 711 or something then drink 1 an hour and you should be plenty hydrated for your run. Watching what you eat is 70% of the battle to dropping weight so focus more of your time and energy in paying more attention to what you are putting in rather than increasing your distance of running at this point. Just watching what I eat and only doing yoga 1 day a week I dropped 15lb's in about 5 weeks. Watch your sugars big time and keep track of everything you eat since you are just starting out. Myfitnesspal is a good site to help keep track of what you eat and what is in a lot of the normal everyday things. I don't cook at home ever and eat out all the time but I still pay attention to what and how much I am eating when I eat out. JJBerk
Did not get to the pool today...rained-out (thunder/lightning), so will make the effort tomorrow so we don't lose momentum. Keep it regular SBT. That's my problem; started the week out well, then nothing since the pool the other day. Maybe tomorrow - I'm on my own all day and have no plans beyond a 3PM pedi. I should get my butt to the pool in the morning.
