Brett
Why does it seem that, compared to wrx's, the lgt's exhaust note is more flat and boring? alot of the nastiest sounding impreza's have a fart can. however, there are also non-farters for the hatchbacks that produce the same note and sound just as good. why can't i find them for a legacy? the closest i found was a custom catless tbe with an Apexi N1 muffler that sounded like most impreza's. is it all in the muffler design? EJ25subie05
people with sti's and wrx's are always complitmenting me on how legit my spec B sounds the with agency power catback. idk why you think the lgt sounds boring but with a good catback or full turboback the lgt will sound just as good (if not better). stage 2 really gave my last lgt a real rumble and yes i believe the sound is created from the muffler design, and maybe even resonator. Brett
some catbacks sound flat. like borla, magnaflow, etc. i still haven't heard any lgt's in person, so i'm using yt clips. how does the inside of a fart can flow? just straight through? did you make a video? bomberlegacy
Fart cans are straight through. But so are Magnaflow, borla, etc. I think dual mufflers makes a difference. Brett
so there are no chambers inside a borla or magnaflow? then is the size of the muffler what gives it "unique" tone?
bomberlegacy
The fart cans have less dampening material, I would guess...more wide open on the inside. I've heard a LGT with Magnaflow catback and one with Nameless performance.. both have very nice boxer rumble. Hell my custom exhaust with a resonator rumbles pretty good '08 Legacy 2.5i - hybrid intake - delta 1000 - E85 - magnaflow exhaust
Brett
nameless sounds good. i think a catless, resonated muffler-free exhaust would be perfect. i like the sound of the farters, but not the look of them. i might have to give in and just get one.
