gsr94
I have an 05 GT about 115K miles. I've stayed on top of the maintance, belts, fluids, etc... I've been trying to figure what's up with the burning smell. It happens when the engine warms up. Its not over heating and I have plenty of coolant. I took it to the dealership and they guess its my torn driver's side cv boot, the leaking fluids gets hot and goes thru the vent. Well I went to another shop and got it done but the burning smell is back. Any guesses on what it can be? Im guessing maybe I need a new valve gasket? 06silvarubiLGT
those boots throw grease onto the downpipe, but usually only smells when you get that thing hot.. valve cover gasket are common to leak down onto up-pipe or manifolds.. have you looked at it yourself yet? gsr94
Im not that mechanically incline. What should I look for? I do know there is visible smoke and smell coming thru the vents.
Mr. Sinister
Did they clean off all the grease that was flung everywhere after they replaced the boot? My guess is they didn't and it's still burning off. Get under the car and clean it all up if you can and see if the smell goes away.
06silvarubiLGT
Visual smoke through vents usually leads to valve cover gasket leaks onto up-pipe, but it also happens with grease on the DP..
