subiebeast22
I just bought a 2006 Spec B and it needs new brakes. I was looking into DBA 4000 series slotted rotors with Hawk HPS or HP pads. All that comes to about $420 not including rear rotors (I couldn't find a price on rallysportdirect.com). So for $200 I could get this: http://www.rallysportdirect.com/Stoptech-977-47010-Stage-2-Sport-Kit Has anybody ever used this kit? How was the fitment of the brake lines? LosAngelesLGT
You are equating WAY too much brake feel to the wrong components. If you are not tracking your car (not autoX, TRACKING) stick with the OEM rotors till they are worn out then go with Centrics. If you can stand the brake dust I really enjoy my HP+. If your brake fluid is not black you don't need new lines. If you do need new lines, the technafit are good and very affordable. http://www.infamousperformance.net/servlet/StoreFront If you want firm pedal feel after that, GS MC brace. subiebeast22
I appreciate the fast response. I believe the rotors are going to need replacing and the fluid looks good to me. So I'll go with your recommendation. Do you have any more recommendations on pads? I just know hawk seem to be popular with Legacys
LosAngelesLGT
I liked HPS for DD but they are a little dusty for what they are. HP+ are a lot of fun but dusty and a little squealy. Brake PADS make the biggest difference in pedal/brake bite. What makes you think your rotors are bad? Are they heavily grooved?
subiebeast22
Well both back rotors have some moderate grooving more so on the back driver side. The fronts are pretty smooth. I thought it would be best to replace all 4. Plus idk if the PO ever had them shaved or how many miles are on them. I've never had a car long enough to have to change the rotors out. Lastly I had to drive the car back around 500 miles and everyone I braked I noticed a sort of grinding sound. I figured it to be more the wear indicator on the brake pads but I wasn't sure. I think it mostly comes done to just preventative Maintinence and a lack of knowledge on the situation.
LosAngelesLGT
Gonna do the brake job yourself?
subiebeast22
No a good friend of mine is a tech at the local Subaru dealership. I go up after hours and he works on the car for me. Ill probably help him out but he'll be doing most of the work and ill be doing all the learning. I've replaced pads before on my other car. I'm not totally clueless but I prefer to have him do it. LosAngelesLGT
What did HE say about your pads/rotors?
subiebeast22
He said pads sounds like there is almost nothing left but couldn't get a good look at the rotors. He took it for a drive the night I picked it up. I'm bringing it up there this weekend for a look over.
LosAngelesLGT
I can assess your pads and rotors without taking your wheels off.

AZP Installs
We have found that the Stoptech Street Performance pads actually have a higher heat range than the hp+. The hp+ have better initial bite. Ope that helps. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts. LosAngelesLGT
Thanks for the heads up Mike. I got the feeling that the HP+ were taking a beating faster than the HPS. I do prefer the intial bite for late braking tho'.

Carbolorene (sp?) were one of the only street able pads for advanced drivers we have found. -Mike Paisan http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/91072632.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/145749898/original.jpg http://www.pbase.com/paisan/image/133406601.jpg http://www.whiteline.com.au/images/logos/perf1.jpg 11+ Years Maintaining, Modifying and Educating TriState Subaru Enthusiasts.
