Alpejohn
Hi, My girlfriend have a 2007 legacy with bixenon headlights. But the halogen high beams are way off where they should be, they light up the road straight in front of the car, and one of them not even straight ahead but to much to the side. The result is bad range as only the bixenon lights up the road straight ahead and the halogen almost straight down. Just for the record, the low beam is properly alligned and not to low or high. So my question is, is it possible to adjust the halogen high beam? Probably need to open the headlights? And is that even possible? The headlights is this type: http://www.google.no/search?q=subaru+legacy+2007&hl=no&client=tablet-android-samsung&source=android-browser-type&v=141400000&tbm=isch&tbo=u&source=univ&sa=X&ei=QUgzUevAJYeM4gSQhYH4Dw&ved=0CDEQsAQ&biw=1280&bih=800#biv=i%7C14%3Bd%7CfsZ6sqFrj9srxM%3A Regards Fredrik
iNVAR
No, they move together. If the high beam is off, the low beam is off too. Adjusting the low beam will move the high beam as well. If you adjust your low beams properly and your high beams are off, something's not right.

When facing a wall the cutoff from the lowbeam is over the halogen high beam.. Need to open the headlight to adjust the lowbeam projector to the high beam i think. Is it possible to open the headlights? Sent from my Nexus 4 using Tapatalk
iNVAR
My point is you shouldn't have to open the headlight to adjust anything. If the high beam is off but your low beam is spot on, something is wrong physically. The two lights are "synched" to each other, so to speak. Either your headlights (low OR high) are not installed correctly in the housing or your housing is messed up.
Alpejohn
I think its messed up, its not the first car i have seen with badly adjusted high beam compared to low beam.. Almost like they mounting the headlight without checking the allignment.. But to fix it, it must be adjusted inside, just did this with my bmw, it was bad allignment there also.. iNVAR
http://legacygt.com/forums/showthread.php/align-your-headlights-if-you-dont-know-now-you-do-54740.html?p=3432408&highlight=high#post3432408 Maybe you're still just not understanding me. The highs and lows are not supposed to be adjusted individually! It's possible that one of them might be off, but for BOTH of them to be off like that is either a ridiculous coincidence (both housings would have to be screwed up the same way) or your low beams, whatever you have installed, is installed WRONG. You could rip your headlights apart to mess with the adjustment, but I think you should probably fix whatever the actual problem is instead. Put a stock H7 bulb back in there and I bet your alignment is right again...
Alpejohn
I understand that its not possible to adjust only the high beam, to do that you need to open the headlight. And its original bixenon so a halogen bulb wouldnt fit. Everything is original. But i opened one of the back covers on the housing earlier, and the bulb wasnt completly in place (the xenon bulb). After fixing that, the halogen high beam looks to be adjusted the same on both sides. But i think they are still to low compared to the bixenon high beam. Will take a few pics now just to show you. iNVAR
Err, actually, now that I look into it, if you have halogen high beams, then you don't have bi-xenon. The very definition of a bi-xenon setup is that both your low beams AND high beams are xenon, and there is ONE bulb. If you have two separate bulbs, you don't have a bi-xenon setup. Anyway... I could be mistaken but whatever you have isn't stock; it's converted. I don't believe any 2007 Legacys come with them. As such, whatever issue you might just be from having a crappy conversion kit. Alpejohn
I know its orginal bixenon + halogen high beam, its not any aftermarket retrofit. The low beam is also the high beam + the halogen high beam. But this car is like the 2008 in US i think. The "new" model came in 2007 in Europe, another guy on this forum said this model came in 2008 in US.. As you see in the pics, the halogen lights are much lower then the low beam.. But they looks to be the same in both sides.. Think they would help more if they was a bit higher then the low beam.. But would be nice if it was possible to open the headlights so i could change the lens to clear one´s for better light output and sharpness. I bet the reflectors are dirty too
iNVAR
Sorry, you're on your own there then. But I've been searching like crazy here since you started the thread and I can't find anything that mentions an LGT up to and including 2008 that came with a bixenon setup, or HIDs, or even just plain ole' xenon. iNVAR
I think the clue is: Location: Norway and it's a 2.0R apparently.I know, I noticed that, but I was still trying to find some sort of mention of it anywhere. I see in the description of that Youtube video mention of the bi-xenons though so okay.
I Donated Too sigmafour Posted March 4, 2013 I Donated Too Share Posted March 4, 2013 I guess Alpejohn if you feel you want to adjust your headlights by yourself you can bake them apart like those who take them to bits to clear them or install new lenses - a search on this site will find you the how to's - but I would suggest you have a specialist look at the alignment unless your country has no laws with regards to correct alignment of headlights and oncoming traffic, which I suspect you do... Alpejohn
Sigmafour: You video shows the exact same car as my girlfriend have. It looks the same. Yes we have rules but as long as the lights not light up the tree tops it should be okay. Woul be nice to get the halogens a bit up If its only heat thats needed to open the headlight then its the same as my bmw. It also need some heat to open the headlights. Thats no problem But if this is how its supposed to be, i wonder why it should light up the road in front of the car instead of far away, some of the light would hit the road anyway.. :/
