Danny Wagon
hi guys. new here. appreciate any help. As soon as I find the right one I am going to buy an 05 or 06 GT wagon I want to upgrade the suspension right away. springs/struts (maybe coilovers) and sway bars. it'll be a daily driver and family car, but I want it to look and handle awesome, lowered with LM reps I want to decrease wheel gap and body roll and improve handling but a comfortable ride. not too slammed most importantly I do not want ass sag, I want a bit of a rake. (front lower than the back) Ive read everything on here and I'm still undecided, and most of it is for sedans also, I think I have decided on wheels. They are 18x8 with 40 offset. does that work? here they are: http://www.str-racing.com/products-page/str-racing-wheels/str-601s/ thanks a million
Moderators BarManBean Posted February 20, 2013 Moderators Share Posted February 20, 2013 First off, if you're looking for a wagon you should buy mine (it's up in the FS section!) Second, if you want to be able to play with your ride height / stiffness and really dial everything in, look at RCE Tarmac 1s. They get some pretty good praises as far as coilovers go. If you don't want to go that route, stick with a set of Koni struts/shocks with epic or pink springs. The konis are adjustable in terms of stiffness, but not ride height. For a wagon you'll want to add some spacer in the rear, probably 3/8" or 1/2" for the rake you are looking for--moreso if you carry heavier loads. Hope that helps. notthesnail
You can go 1/4" or 3/8" spacer on the back without having to replace the mounting bolts. Or you can have Koni customize the rear shocks to move the bottom perch up. This will add a little pre-load to the spring, but the car will sit a little higher. I'm riding on Konis and iONs (HD rear) with a 22mm rear bar. 235 tires are really close to the rear fender lip on 17x8 +42 RPF1, but do fit. I dd on 17x7.5 +45 with 225. 18x8 +40 with 225 won't be a problem, but you might want to have them just mount one for a test fit if you plan to go wider. Toe adjustment in the rear may be a problem once lowered. Soak your toe bolts in penetrating oil as often as you can leading up to your suspension swap and alignment. Max Capacity
I can say the Koni's and Epic's really stopped 90% if not more of the body roll, I'm on OEM sway bars, with 170,000 miles. They also took out all the body squat under WOT in 2nd -5th. In 1st there is a little squat but not much at all. I have the rears set one full from hard and the fronts 2 full from hard. When it warms up I'll put the rears at 1.5 turns from full hard. 305,600miles 5/2012 ej257 short block, 8/2011 installed VF52 turbo, @20.8psi, 280whp, 300ftlbs. (SOLD). CHECK your oil, these cars use it. Engine Build - Click Here

A slammed wagon will have nil carrying capacity and a harsh ride unless you spend serious coin making it not so. Cheap C/O will not help you accomplish any of these goals. Buy wheels last, not first. If buying a 05/6 Wagon, you need to do some engine work first - timing belt, leakdown, banjo bolt, possibly stage 1 tune. As you are looking and dreaming, my sig has 2 options for you: 1. build a wagon 2. buy it already built/proven Build my car Boxkita Track days

Koni will do that from the factory? Do you have any more info on this? Such as, can I order them that way, or do I need to buy a set and send them in?
