puttboii
I am the proud owner if a 93 legacy wagon AWD. However, over th past month or so, I have been flashing a check engine intermittently. But then disappears a few minutes later. This has happened a couple times now, and I would just like to trace the source. I am thinking it is a bad O2 sensor, Orr possibly a MAF. But I figured I would toss it out to the interwebs to see if anyone had another possible cause? Thanks!
mnstrmech
first post in this forum is a sticky, "reading OBD-1 codes" which also has a link to how to pull the codes, read it and get the codes. DONT just start throwing parts at it, thats stupid and lazy. Diagnose and repair the correct parts.
monkeyposeur
My guess is a bad purge control solenoid, knock sensor, lol. But only because both of those go south eventually. Mnstrmech is right though. You have to pull the codes. It's really easy one you find the connectors. There are black ones for stored codes, and green connectors for a running check. Here is a good write up from surrealmirage that inalso found on bbslegacycentral: http://www.surrealmirage.com/subaru/engine.html How is the car running? It never hurts to clean the MAF. snederhiser
Hello; By all means check the computer for stored codes! Is it missing, lousy gas mileage, bad idle, or other complaints? Non of us here claim to be Karnack the Great (Carson), Steven.

Thanks for the link! 02 sensor is the culprit!
monkeyposeur
No problem. I love that we can check our OBD1 codes without a scanner on the first gens. I took my SS to get the codes pulled before I knew how. I sat there for almost an hour and a half while the mechanics tried to figure out how to do it. Finally I got pissed and told them to give me the car back.
