nhltfour
picked up a slightly used SPT exhaust and Invidia high flow downpipe and am looking for a gasket kit for the exhaust. I contacted my local subaru dealership to see if they carried a gasket kit of some sort. He originally found 1 gasket that you order but then found a hardware kit that is sold a part from the exhaust. Does anyone know about this hardware kit? Does it include new gaskets, or just nuts and bolts, etc? Any opinions or recommendations would be awesome. cheers mates
ripemeat
the mufflers bolt on just like the stock setup to the y pipe. you can use rtv to seal it better. you'll need a 3" adapter in order to PROPERLY mate the downpipe's 3" flat flange to the spt's rounded edge midpipe. you can get a grimmspeed or equivalent 3" adapter at fredbeansparts.com and usually includes the 1. 3" flat gasket and 2. donut gasket(a subaru part), the adapter comes with its own bolts. the adapter itself is not a dealer part. nhltfour
yeah I was looking at that exact same kit I think. http://www.fredbeansparts.com/3-inch-downpipe-to-2-5-inch-cat-back-exhaust-adaptor-1.html
BSpectacular
I see I'm not the only one with exhaust questions. So I bought a COBB DP with and SPT 3" exhaust. I need 4 different gaskets correct? 1 from turbo to DP, 1 from DP to 3" exhaust and then 2 for the bolt on mufflers to exhaust. I saw the above link for the 3" adapter, do I need all 3 parts? Any help would be beneificial, thanks!!
ShadowImg
Yes, depending on the mileage/life your car has seen, you will likely also need new hardware, including the studs on the turbo. The axle-back gaskets are very generic, you can get those at any autoparts store. The turbo to DP gasket and downpipe to catback I would pick up the Grimmspeed variants. Your stock heatshield will also not fit with the new DP, you can trim or replace with an aftermarket. Heat-wrap is also recommended for the upper portion of the downpipe. Contact m sprank @ infamous, tell him what you're doing, he can give you a nice package of everything you need. Interesting note: in my setup (Invidia V2 catted downpipe + SPT v2 catback) the Grimmspeed 3 in adapter did not fit -- it pushed the exhaust too far out to get it into proper place. It sealed up just fine with a flat gasket though.
Mr. Sinister
So I bought a COBB DP with and SPT 3" exhaust. Are you sure the SPT is a 3"? Unless it was modified, I thought the SPTs were made to mate with the stock exhaust. If so, all you need is the donut gasket between the Cobb and SPT since the Cobb is also 2.5". ShadowImg
The SPT v2 (not sure about v1 or v1.5) is for sure a tapered 2.5" for the donut gasket.

BSpectacular
Thanks for all the help! I had no idea about the exhaust heat tape was good for a few things, other than to help you not get burned. I ordered the 2 that connect the mufflers, I just need the other 2 now. Thanks again for the help!!
