HAPPY 60K

If anyone is down at SoCal, I highly recommend Frank at PROLIFIC. Best Subaru only shop that I've ever been to since I entered the Subaru family in 2005. He's the same guy that used to work for Forman Performance and Garage Tuning, pretty well known on NASIOC.

Did you ever delete the interior third brake light when you had the JDM spoiler installed? I didn't notice any mention of it in your summary and none of the pictures I've seen allow that area to be visible.

I unplugged the OE third brake lights.

Update!

About a month ago, my rear HAWK 5.0's outside pad disintegrated while I was trying to slow down to make a left turn, the brake pedal lost pressure and dropped to the floor and the car kept going. I pumped the pedal like a maniac barely stopped the car from strolling into the opposite traffic. Thank God I stopped, I think I was probably close to a full part out, both the car and myself haha! Anyways, it gave me a good reason go big!

HAWK 5.0 pads were used for 40k miles, the pad on the other side of this rotor as well as the other wheels all had more than 50% pad left, this was a factory defect.

Part List:

2015 STI Calipers with 16k miles.

DBA T3 Slotted Rotors for 08-15 STI, all 4 corners are dual-drilled from DBA factory.

Ferodo DS2500 Brake Pads for STI.

GiroDisc Anti-Noise Shims [#1001 / #961].

Permatex Ceramic Extreme Brake Lube, applied on both sides of the shims.

The Legacy specific Goodridge SS Brake Lines [#24220] works with the STI calipers, no issues and no modifications. Only modification needed in the entire swap was just grinding down the lip of the rear brake dust plates. The entire surgery before a full brake flush was about 40mins.

Will post more pictures later!

Very nice build and your car looks so flawless. Always loved Southern California / OC for its weather, women, food and the cars are always so clean. You guys don't have to deal with rock chips, debris, snow, mud and all this crap we in Colorado get from daily driving.

I have the same IC set-up as yours and want to retain the engine cover. Did you have to trim / modify the plastic engine cover to fit over the charge pipe / power steering hoses?

Thx, and yes you have to trim the charge pipe side and just roll tuck the insulations under.

You don't need to change the prop valves or brake booster to the STI units with this setup? Since more fluids will need to flow to the calipers?

Or is that just a honda thing?

No, don't need to do any of that.

That's Brian on the 3rd to the last pic! lol

Primitive Racing Skid Plate 3/16"

I kept and trimmed the front under tray as recommended by others. The center two holes where the OEM plastic tabs go, don't trim that section! The skid plate has the two holes, but the plastic tab can't reach it due to the 3 spacers on the skid plate. So had I left it untrimmed, I could have still used the OEM tabs to secure that section. No big deal if you did, just a heads up if you have not trimmed it already. I believe this was one of the updates Primitive Racing made to the 3 spacers.

Hmm, I'm starting to think I should trim my tray. I have it off entirely right now. Right now, the tray is only secured to the car through the popits on the bumper?

Additionally, you might find someone from the saltbelt who wants your turbo heat shield for cheap. About 1/3 of mine was rusted, and another 1/3 was just completely gone.

You definitely should keep the front under tray because debris is just gonna trap under there. It's designed to keep an amount of pressure in the engine bay as well, so just trim it and put it back.

I drew the blue border so you know where to trim from. Don't trim the top two holes section for the plastic tabs because the skid plate is too far from it. Leave that area so you can still secure the undertray with the two plastic tabs.
