boxkita
Well thats rediculously generous of you John... Im planning on making my way back out there. Need to work down some bills first though... cant throw away the no rent/big house to myself opertunity I have here while I can no rent place? Yeah, I stay there too. seriously, I'd lock this thread and start over. Use a catchy title like Gator did. Don't feed the trolls, either. An outback does Pikes Peak! Ok, now I see why I'm not in marketing. Not perky enough. Build my car Boxkita Track days

Nightmaresmk
Nice. I have the moroso oil pan. Wish i got the aluminum one or the killer b.
boxkita
I have the killer b (pan, tray & pickup). Wish I had gotten the Crawford AOS instead of the Grimmspeed POS. Build my car Boxkita Track days

boxkita
what's wrong with the steel pan? nothing, except more oil capacity is helpful when running higher output engines. More cooling, more oil capacity in case of extra burning, etc Build my car Boxkita Track days
dustinsonger
The moroso steel pan is a 6qt pan as well, i got that one simply because i cant fit any of the aluminium pans into my budget. Its a good price, has a built in baffle and comes with the upgraded pickup tube. The only advantage i could imagine from the aluminium over the steel is better passive oil cooling. buuuuut honestly after building audis and volkswagons and bmws ive seen plenty of exploded aluminium pans to not feel bad about getting a steel one. Rhitter
You would know better than I. But, I read that the Moroso piickup tube is pretty shitty on NASIOC. Welds were terrible or something. Once you have it in hand, you will be in a better place to make the decision if it looks quality or not. How much is the steel pan. Been debating replacing mine at somepoint and as I am not a racer can't really justify an aluminum pan. My OBXT build
dustinsonger
I got mine for like 380, pan, pickup, baffle. We will see how it is when i get it in hand.
dustinsonger
Ugh i hate waiting for parts. So i grabbed an angle grinder with a cutting wheel on it and some 2.5 in pipe and started cutting. dont make too muc fun of my welds, its been awhile and its not done or cleaned up haha

Leviman
Im considering the moroso oil pickup for my car, does it seem to be beefy enough? The killer b which seems to be the norm, is not terribly more expensive.

Don't overthink this. Build my car Boxkita Track days
Leviman
Right that's what I was thinking. It's just that, if the wall thickness of the metal is similar to stock, then there's a chance it could crack like the stock ones do.
AMileHighLGT
The stock pickup tubes were cracking at the brazed connections. Wall thickness isn't the issue. I have a brand new stock pickup at home, and the brazing does look liek chit.
Leviman
Oh I thought I was seeing that the steel was cracking near the brazing? I'll have to do more homework.
Nightmaresmk
they crack at the brazing and from movement they can crack the pipe itself. killer-b's website has a lot of examples. lol
dustinsonger
The welds on the moroso pickup are not pretty by any means but it looks a hell of alot less likely to break than the stock one haha
