HansGT
Ok....so our '05 Highlander is at 74K and the rotors are shuttering. Going to replace them and get new pads. I tried Thermo Quiets and they are just ok. I'm open to something new. Would like to have: -semi low dusting -LOW to NO noise -better than OEM stopping power -under $60 front pads Been looking at a few...give me your thoughts or recommendations. Akebono ProACT Ultra-Premium Ceramic Beck Arnley Ceramic EBC Ultimax Ceramic As for rotors.... Centric Wagner Weaever Brembro (but don't really wanna drop the cash...can get them from Advance Auto (FR pair) for $130) Thoughts? No big brake kits...just looking for a mild step up over OEM and keep the price down.

wera832
Ive had several Toyotas over the years and honestly , the OEM pads are the way to go. The last a good long while , arent expensive and should there be any issue , getting them replaced under warrenty is a snap. I tried some after market pads on my XRS Matrix and the braking feel fell off after 10k miles and were done by 15k ( when driven sporty on the street and in the mountians ) where the OEM pads lasted well over 50k miles when driven under the same enviroment. The autozone lifetime pads installed on my Camry did last a good long while , but , they destroyed the rotors .So the $35 savings on pads wound up costing over $300 for new rotos ( mainly interstate driving back and forth to work ). Just my 0.02 worth -
HansGT
I found some Beck Arnley that are OE. [ame=http://www.amazon.com/Beck-Arnley-089-1658-Brake-Pad/dp/B002V9A6TS/ref=au_pf_pfg_s?ie=UTF8&Make=Toyota|76&Model=Highlander|1009&Year=2005|2005&carId=004&n=15684181&newCar=1&s=automotive&vehicleType=automotive]Amazon.com: Beck Arnley 089-1658 OE Brake Pad: Automotive[/ame] Was leaning toward ceramic for less noise, dusting and resistance to fad. Thoughts? HansGT
Anyone else? Might throw Green Stuff in the ring. The misses says she doesn't car about dusting, would rather have good braking...but no noise. Wish they had Red Stuff for the highlander. Any other recommendations? Good stopping power, no noise, medium dusting.
Penguin
Just buy some pads, this is not rocket science.

Penguin
Get the OEM pads put on. It is a Highlander not a race car.
Bolksey85
Get the OEM pads put on. It is a Highlander not a race car. This. The aftermarket won't touch OEM silence and quality.
10legacy
you either get quiet and low dust or good braking you can't have it all. either way just buy the oem pads, i've tried performance pads and have always ended up going back to oem. HansGT
^ Red Stuff seems to have be a pretty good all around choice, but they don't have them for the highlander. But I'm 99% sure I'm going with Beck Arnley OE pads. (OEM manufacuter + they will include shims) @$40.
