ir2005
So I re did all my brakes two weekends ago. front and rear. All went good till late last week. I was making a right turn and heard a chh chh chh sound. Like a pad rubbing on the rotor. It gets louder and you brake and doesn't go away unless your driving straight. So I figured the caliper was hanging up. It was worn and showed its age on the dry rotted rubber. I replaced the caliper, bled it, drove around last night.(drove like 30 miles) Noise is gone. On my way to work this morning I made my first right turn and its back. I know the rotors aren't heat warped they have 200 miles on them. I have good clean brake fluid. Does anyone have any ideas? ShrinerMonkey
Check the brake rotor splash shields, you might have bent one during the brake job. It is unlikely a dragging brake pad would make a noise like that. You might also want to make sure the spring clips are properly positioned and aren't rubbing on the rotors. ir2005
would the splash sheild make noise intermittently like that though? and the spring clips came installed nice and snug. The are two little cut outs for the squealer to lock into should it be in the one closest to the rotor or furthest away?
ShrinerMonkey
You could jack up the front of the car, turn the wheels in the direction you are hearing the noise and spin the wheel by hand to listen for the noise and investigate more closely. ir2005
Well now it does it whenever I apply the brakes except turning left. i looked and nothing seems to be close enough to rub.

I don't know what to tell you. Maybe disassemble everything and reassemble more carefully and torque every fastener to spec. Did you bed in the brakes after the install? ir2005
http://www.zeckhausen.com/bedding_in_brakes.htm I guess I didn't realize the actual name of it. But yes I did do that. I took the caliper off pads out re-greased/anti-seized everything. we will see how it goes.
