dark_thorns
Is there any way to get the motor to work without all the useless sensors? I'm getting tired of a check engine light for the stupidest of things. whatever happened to simplicity? spark, fuel, mechanical. if a motor is in proper working condition it shouldn't start running bad because a cheap sensor decided to go out. I Donated broknindarkagain Posted August 14, 2012 I Donated Share Posted August 14, 2012 It will start to run poorly because all the sensors control your air/fuel ratios, ignition timing, etc. These sensors are nessicary for a computer operated engine. Even stand alone ECU systems have all the sensors. Not to mention, its a violation of federal law to tamper with a vehicles emission systems (basically any sensor on the engine) -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." dark_thorns
so even theoretically speaking there isn't a way to do it?
SomethingWittyAsAUsername
so even theoretically speaking there isn't a way to do it? Not that I know of. Your car is computer controlled. Even if you did figure something genius out for it, by the time you thought it up, built it, troubleshooted it, realized it was crap, built another one and tweaked it, you could have just fixed the original problem I once spoke with a very disgruntled mechanic dealing with a customer who had thoughts along the lines of yours. Some guy bought an older Porsche for a race car, and decided to lighten it by removing every wire in the car. It was old, but not old enough to not be computer controlled. The mechanic was in day 2 of rewiring.
twisty
you can always buy a pre FI vehicle and do it that way. carbs dont need sensors or computers to control them.
