Alter_
i'm itching for boost. That said the cost for a turbo kit on average is pushing over 1000. for 500 more i can get an engine shipped to me. Now i would either need standalone or the ecu for this engine. I have many questions on this swap from ej22 to ej20t. Will my current transmission work? Do most engines come with the ecu or will i have to purchase that separately? I plan on keeping the engine as stock as I can maybe upping the boost a bit, but nothing too crazy as I don't want tear up my tranny and rear diff. Is this a cost effective way to get an old legacy some real hp.
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted August 13, 2012 I Donated Share Posted August 13, 2012 Do a turbo engine swap with Megasquirt stand alone. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Alter_
so I just need the engine and megasquirt? no tranny, no rear diff etc? if that is all it takes then I will start saving asap.
Alter_
I should really say ej20-k/g with manual transmission. then run the megasquirt.
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted August 13, 2012 I Donated Share Posted August 13, 2012 subframe, exhaust, turbo piping, etc is needed. you can live with your stock transmission, but it likely won't last very long. I would suggest replacing it. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." Alter_
Found a EJ20G with transmission. Putting together the funds now. Might have to wait a month but getting the engine with transmission is my goal. I really want the stock ecu with harness to come with it also. I do have a friend that is going to help that has done this before. subframe, exhaust, turbo piping, etc is needed. you can live with your stock transmission, but it likely won't last very long. I would suggest replacing it.
Alter_
Found my engine - http://www.jdmenginedepot.com/jdm_engine_details/200/Subaru_EJ20G_Impreza_WRX_STI_Version_II_GC8_%289/95%29 If anyone knows any reason not to order from them let me know. Now for some other parts. Exhaust should be straight forward along with the intake piping. Cross member 02 wrx cross member should work right? Any other parts that i'm missing that is crucial to getting the engine mounted. Drive axles? etc?
