dark_thorns
I had read in a forum that the ej22 came stock with forged internals but the pistons were only cast? Is that correct? I was in need of an engine swap for my '98 legacy gt and this was the closest motor i could get my hands on for cheap so i'm looking to build up the internals to last for awhile. Any help would be greatly appreciated, or if you could give me some suggestions on internals that would be great too.
I Donated broknindarkagain Posted August 13, 2012 I Donated Share Posted August 13, 2012 If you're not running high horsepower, stock internals will last nearly forever if properly cared for. The EJ22 does NOT have forged internals. -broknindarkagain My Current Project - Click Here COME AND TAKE IT "The only thing necessary for the triumph of evil is for good men to do nothing." dark_thorns
OK i didn't think so, when i pulled apart the block they didn't look all that strong. What are some good options for forged internals? I'm mainly needing the rods and bearings, the crank and piston head i'll probably keep stock. dark_thorns
I see. Well what's my best option here. I've got the ej22 pulled apart and ready for rebuild and i've got the ej25 in my car currently. The only reason i got the ej22 was because when i bought my car it was having overheating problems and the guy said it was because of the thermostat not opening up, but he had a guy put in a new water pump and timing belt, well when i looked through the car the stuff still looked in decent shape but the new parts were never installed, they were just in the back seat. -.- So my fear is that since i don't know how long the car has been driven with the overheating problem that there is more than likely some damage to the heads.
