Did anyone get this hitch above the tow hook?

Mines been driving me nuts for how low it sits. I might have Motive try and jimmy it above the tow hook if its doable.

I have the same one and it sits low. Though I don't know of any way to get it above the tow hook. I've actually hit mine on the ground going down steep drives onto level road, but I am also lowered 1". I think all hitches for the legacy sit like this one

I had mine above the tow hook when I initially installed it, so the bar angled up.

The Kuat bike rack I had was also angled, and the wide bars of my bike were a little too close to the rear hatch glass, so I removed it all and mounted it under the tow hook.

You'll need to shim the four mounting points a little more if you get it above the tow hook.

huh. It's been a couple of years since I installed it so I'm having a hard time visualizing the mounting points. So if you shimmed it, and fit it above the hook, it would be on an angle?

Not sure how I like that.

ya Ive gotten used to it, pulling out of places with sharp declines on a diagonal, etc. just a pain in the ass.

Just a poorly designed hitch IMO. I'm just trying to find a cost efficient way to mod it and get it over the tow hitch, otherwise I'll deal with it as is.

How would you put it above the tow hook? It didn't look possible when I was doing the install. I agree that it looks like it's fairly low.

that's my point. I've heard of humans getting it above the tow hook, but I cant remember if it was with this hitch or a different brand. I'm trying to figure out if it can be done with a big metal hammer, or if you need to fab it somehow.

they all suck .. i cut and raised mine so its just touching the bumper

my welder fiend made a 2'' receiver for his and did an amazing job he just put it behind the bumper cover and just cut the bumper cover slightly

Now that's thinking out of the boxer!

I installed the OEM hitch kit for the Outback on my LGT Wagon. That hitch doesn't interfere with the hook. Also, it sits higher because the tubing is bent to fit around the well for the spare tire. It does not hang down any further than the mufflers do.

There is an OEM hitch for the sedan? :iam:

It is listed as an Outback part number, so "officially" it is not sold for the sedan, but it fits. The part number is L101SAG000 or L101SAG100 (L101SAG000 is cheaper). The wiring harness is included. The wiring harness plugs right in on the wagons, however, I don't think the sedan has the plug, so it would be necessary to modify the sedan's wiring.

I bought that hidden hitch first, and hated how low it sat so much, I ended up going oem. Much better fitment, looks a lot cleaner. I've also never scraped on the stock hitch, where as that Hidden Hitch would scrape everywhere with such a jarring sound I was worried I was going to rip it right off the car.
