5MT Clutch issue

Hey there,

I have a 97 GT sedan with 5 speed and i have a question about the clutch. Sometimes, but not all the time, the pedal feels like its binding a little when I push it in. Also, when i have it pushed all the way in and rev it, the clutch pedal vibrates. Just wondering if its some kind of linkage issue or the clutch itself. I'm going to be pulling the motor soon to do some headwork so Ill be able to get at a lot of it.

Thanks guys

Sounds like you may have a issue in the clutch disc or pressure plate.

I hope you plan on replacing them and the TOB while the engine is out.

I had planned on replacing them, yes, but it engages and disengages fine. It doesn't slip out of gear on the road, and it stalls right away when released in gear. Just trying to save myself the money and hassle of installing the part if I don't need it.

you know, the clutch problem i had sounds similar. i had no major squealing... which made me think it wasn't bad.

basically... my TO bearing was going bad fast. in the end, i was able to shift fine. no pop outs. but i can feel in the pedal the TO was fighting back. in a harmonic pattern.

i would try to diagnose it sooner then later. my bearing ended up eating up the tranny side and it turned out bad.

again, i am not saying this is the same problem. but the topic of the pedal shaking and fighting back sounds like my issue. it was a shaking. may be cause the bearing got tweeked and seized? not sure... but i would keep it on the plate until you find another plausable reason and not drive it too hard...
