teej_mcsteez
Hey everyone long time lurker first time poster lol. I own a 1995 2.2 legacy that had blown a headgasket. I replaced the gaskets Thursday and my car started up right away. I drove it around the block and noticed that I forgot to put in 2 bolt into the coolant crossover pipe (I know I'm stupid). So I parked it in front of my house took off the bolts to the IM, put the bolts in the coolant pipe and tightened everything out. Now my car refuses to start (it cranks and sounds like it wants to catch but then it coughs and gives up) So far, I checked for spark and its sparking. I rechecked timing and its on point (I doubt its timing because my car started right before I took off the IM). fuel pump primes and spark plugs were wet when I pulled them. I also checked vacuum hoses, cam and crank sensors, grounds and theyre good also. Right now I don't know what else to do other then scan for codes and a compression test. Anyone got any advice to what to check for because I'm stumped at the moment. Thanks in advance
johnegg
did you get the fuel lines on in the correct order? are all the wiring connectors done up? this sounds like a fuel issue. buy a can of starting fluid, either, and shoot a couple of short burst in to the intake. then try and start it. if it does not fire you probably have a spark issue. if it does fire you have a fuel issue. teej_mcsteez
Thanks for the reply. I tried a few sprays of starter fluid but nothing changed. I never removed my fuel lines after I did the HG and I drove it around, but that reminds I should invest in a new fuel filter lol. Thanks for the advice though man keep it coming lol. johnegg
recheck the intake manifold seating. if something got pinched in between the manifold and the heads the intake leak would cause trouble. recheck everything you touched during the ''repair''. teej_mcsteez
Sorry for the late reply I been kinda busy at work. I got some new IM gaskets and a new battery. slap them on and the car started right up. it sounds like its knocking a little bit but I'm sure a few oil changes will clear it up. Thanks for all the help John, I'd give you my first born if I had any kids haha
