Thanks to Subaru of America & Village Subaru!

My 05 Outback 3.0 LL Bean was eating tires. Alignment was done before each new tire purchase but I couldn't get 20K miles from a set of tires. I'm about to buy my third set at 65K Miles (fourth set for the car including OEM set) The dealer I bought my car from is out of business and a local independent has been servicing the car. Village Subaru of Acton agreed with me that something was not right. They discovered that the control arms in the rear were too rusted to allow proper toe alignment. Between Village and Laurie at Subaru of America, they took care of the problem and now the car rides great. I asked for help and advice not expecting a positive response since the car is 7 years old and has not been dealer serviced. Laurie agreed that my experience was not typical and helped to make it right. Everyone I dealt with was great. Thanks Laurie, thanks Dave & Chris at Village! :)

were all the tires worn or just the rears? I figured this would have been noticed after the first set of tires were torn up. I also would certainly have not bought more oem tires after noticing premature wears, i.e. crappy lifespan

Oem's were B stone REAxxx. They made it to 23,000 miles. Bought Sumitomo Avid Envigor's for High performance and high tread-wear rating. Was told by the independent @ 26.8K that lower front control arms were worn. Get dealer to fix under warranty. Dealer did not agree and I did nothing. Paid independent to replace the arms at 43K. By then front tires were somewhat scalloped. Bought 4 more tires at 47.5K since all wheel drive can't tolerate much difference in tire circumference. Got alignment again with new tires. Next the right rear strut started to rattle. By the time it was diagnosed & fixed, it had scalloped the right rear tire. That is where I am at now. BTW: Found a used tire on line of exact same type with same amount of tread as the other three. Cost me $44! I will ride out another 10K miles or however much I get. Control arm problems are the underlying issue, and I did not catch the problems and react quickly enough.

I appreciate that Subaru helped me in spite of mistakes I made and some less than perfect help from the independent. Their help has renewed my faith in the brand.
