painting oem spash guards ?

Has anyone painted their oem splash guards to look like the JDM ones ? I'm thinking of doing this on my qsm legacy. I imagine I need some adhesion promoter and flex additive to keep the paint stuck on. If anyone has done this, I'm curious how it's held up, and how you went about it ?

OK - so I took a whack at this. I got my oem splash guards and gave them 3 coats of black plasti-dip should I change my mind about the whole bit. I let that dry overnight, and followed up with 4 coats of dupli-color to match the car, and then 2 coats of clear to topcoat it. I let this dry overnight, and mounted them. It's been 4 days an no digs or scratches. I'm waiting at least a week before washing them or waxing (I think 2 or more would be best). If they get marked up, I'm peeling it all off.

So far, I really like the matching guards, but I could live with black.

Sorry - here's my try at adding lousy cell phone pics. The color seems to go from a perfect match to small differences depending on the angle of the lighting. I think its extremely close, but painting plastic has always resulted in slight differences for me.

Let me know if the pics don't come thru.
