2006 Legacy GT Wagon?

Recommended Posts

Found it at the local dealer for $11980. 93k miles, drives nice and pulls nice on the highway; love the feeling of a turbo!

Issues found on the test drive were that the huge ass sunroof doesn't open, brakes were a bit warped and the front grille was damaged. Can get them to fix those of course.

Thoughts?

Was actually looking into trading or buying out the lease on the '11 Legacy when I found this. We really don't wanna buy out since its not a wagon, and the new Outback is a bit over our budget right now; and I'd like yo avoid a lease option.

I hear it's easier to pull the Down Pipe from the car to check shaft play, but that's just from random converstions I have seen on here. As far as I know it's not a killer job. If you want to really know about it get that done and a compression check. Good luck with your purchase. When/if you buy it, make sure to go the the cheap / free mod post in the 05-09 forum.

IMHO, if money is tight/an issue, avoid used turbo cars, especially with unknown maintenance records and ESPECIALLY 05-09 LGTs. Too many problems with the turbo going and taking the engine with it..

brakes are relatively cheap to replace but that huge ass sunroof may be a huge cost to fix if you let the dealer do it; just warning...

And count the number of exploded turbos.. I'm sure the number of people on this board is > 5%, maybe closer to 10% who've had their turbo die.

I wouldn't roll the dice on that.
