Placed my first, (and certainly not my last), order with Underdog Motorsports :D

Clutchmasters FX350 Clutch kit

Tranquil TSK3 Kit

OEM WRX Flywheel bolts

Group N 5MT Transmission Mount

Group N Transmission Crossmember Bushings

and with his deal he threw in some more fluids

SMFW will go in with this setup, and looking forward to breaking it in and giving impressions since the FX350 is relatively new still. I'm overdue for a clutch replacement and this setup should hold any power I will throw at it (Stage 3 will either be 16G+E85 or 68HTA+E85).

With the change in the weather and a couple nice days ahead, I decided it was time to wax up the CE28s, apply my authentic Ray's Volk replacement decals (ouch $$ ), and apply some caliper decals Doc Designed did in a color match to TSM. Cleaning up the center caps so until then this will have to do for an update until I put them on and get some full side view shots

I was told that the site was down by someone else not too long ago. They are still around, but I think they let the site slip :iam: . I'll have to give Marcus a call. I have a couple projects I want him to consider anyways :D. I can ping you if I get in touch with him and let you know.

This weekend's project has been the TRS RetroQuik installation. I haven't installed the setup in the car yet, but wanted to take my time getting the projectors installed, nail down my wiring, and make sure the paint work cured before running them.

Took my original '06 headlights to do the HID upgrade on, (been running OEM '05s I cleared for several months and am so glad I had two sets so there was no rushing). I planned to paint the all chrome housings during the project, so I painted the shrouds a gloss black (tested masking them and that chrome on the shroud is super thin - even with green tape it peeled). The thickness of chrome in reflector bowl for the turn signal held much better resistance to peel so I masked those and painted the shrouds first.

Let that set for 24 hours and then masked the now painted shrouds and painted the housings with SEM Charcoal Metallic trim paint.

Then removed all the masking and let dry for a couple hours before assembly.

Ballast location matches where the JDM OEM ballast goes on our assemblies. Checked clearance as best as I could for now and when I pull the bumper and complete the install I can move these if necessary. Used 3M heavy duty trim adhesive and can pick the whole headlight up by the ballast so it should hold great.

Got the bulbs installed, did some general alignment of the projector behind the shroud, and setup the assembly wiring.

Now just need to pick a day to install these with the Hella horn kit, get the wiring harnesses run as stealth as possible, and polish these up. Can't wait to see them on the car and lighting up the road!

New clutch is in and fantastic :D Updated the initial post with current upgrades. Can't wait until break in is completed and I can really push my stage 2 power levels again without clutch slip. Going to have to do some pulls and get some power numbers posted to use as a reference for when it's eventually stage 3 ;)

Will tackle the Hella install along with swapping in the freshly modified TRS HID retrofitted lights next weekend.

Feels really good to have all the "maintenance type" upgrades done for now. Brakes, suspension, clutch, and a healthy motor at stage 2. CBE will be the next big upgrade

Time for some spring installs! Planning on pulling the front bumper this weekend and getting my TRS retrofitted headlights installed, installing the silver Hella horns, getting all the wiring done, putting the summer CF lip on, swapping in the CF fog shrouds and putting GS front plate relocate back on. If I'm able to hide out in the garage without having to accomplish much in the way of "honeydos" this weekend, I'm going to paint the chrome strips on the rocker panels as well.

Also < 200 miles to go to wrap up break in on the ClutchMasters FX350. Couldn't be more pleased with how this clutch works! Definitely recommend to anyone looking for a replacement with more holding capability than OEM!

Last update is I have been getting regular updates from a member here doing a honeycomb s402 style grill for me and it's shaping up nicely! Can't wait to get it installed! :D

I had mine up on ramps all day yesterday. Installed a silver Hella horn kit, and the TRS retrofitted HID headlights that I painted the housings in SEM charcoal metallic with a satin black shroud. Spent time getting all the wiring harnesses tucked away stealthily, and zip tied all the lines up. Installing the ballasts in the JDM position on the base of the headlight housing worked awesome for wiring. Found a good spot for the relays as well to keep them out of the elements (especially with the JDM battery cover).

Killed the DRL and installed 3000K LED fogs (yellow). Put my summer CF front lip on after the bumper was back on. Also put on the Prodrive radiator and coolant cap emblems and polished the headlight lenses.

Still need to install the GS plate relocator back on with the CF fog shrouds. Ran out of time for those and no need for it to be on ramps for finishing those up.

Okay, so I was cruising your thread (lovely car btw ;) ) to check how the headlights looked on your car and, well, it sucked me in and I read the whole dang thing.. One thing I noticed, which has been a hot topic for me lately, is the "right" turbo for E-85. No one will give you the sure fire answer, but after multiple months of research, ride alongs for comparisons, and lots of beer consumption, I can say I fully support the 68HTA option... HOWEVER, they are a bastard to find and the reason is that it has been replaced with a DSM styled (based off of) 71HTA

Just a tidbit for you to consider as you get closer to your E tune :)

And to think, my first LGT forums post is long and boring..

Thanks for the input ctracey!

I'm torn because it's still relegated to DD duties at this point. While I know the potential of the 68/71HTA is much higher and a beautiful match for E85; I know at those power levels I'd be pushing the stock block and 5MT to their limits. The quick spool and power output of the EVOIII16G and E85 would be great for quick blasts without as much top end, and allow me to not worry as much about having to go with a built block or transmission. :spin: That's my debate going on in my head right now. My tuner runs a 68HTA with E85, the numbers are quite impressive, and I know he's got a good handle on getting a powerful yet safe tune with that setup.

As with any series of mods I do I try and consider all the factors and take my time with the decisions. I went with a clutch setup that will handle either setup so it wasn't a limiting factor.

I miss having money to buy these little bits and wrench on the ride lol. You still got my old centercaps? Summer wheels I assume?

So... when are you coming to eat some BBQ? :)
