Tehnation
I recharged my ac then heard a hissing, when i looked I saw that the condenser was leaking. Anyway to repair a condenser, looks like a rock or something hit. Anyone difficulty level in replacing a condenser?
Tehnation
Hissing from the condenser probably means its broken right? Just to be sure.
asellus
Yeah, hissing definitely isn't a good thing. Most cans of freon will have dye in them. Do you see any fluorescent green ooze? Replacement gets complicated. Breaching an A/C system is not a good thing, and to properly re-"seal" it you need extremely expensive equipment. Best to have a shop evacuate it, replace the parts yourself, then have a shop charge it as if it's a dry system -- this entails pulling a crazy huge vacuum in attempt boil out any water (and to leak test), then a charge.
