need bb
I was planning on going with a full 3" catback on the wagon, but giving all the issues with droning I believe I think I want to keep the stock cans. I was able to find only one post with someone using a resonated midpipe + stock cans and I was hoping to hear more opinions on this setup. fog32
I'm running a Perrin Mid/Y pipe with stock mufflers. The sound difference is very minimal. Throw in one washer before the mufflers (around 1/16" or 3/32") and the sound is amazing. Nice deep rumble, but not too loud. More washers = more volume. Sorry but I don't have a sound clip to post for you.
turbodog
I would advise against a custom "crush bent" pipe, try to get aftermarket mandrel bent pipes, like the perrin. I assume you're running an aftermarket downpipe, otherwise this makes no sense.
need bb
So the aftermarket midpipe isn't that much louder than stock?
turbodog
So the aftermarket midpipe isn't that much louder than stock? The resonator is there to tune, literally, resonances in the exhaust. From both exhaust pulses and sound waves, and how they interact with the muffler and downpipe. Drone is ususally caused by removing resonators, in your case with the stock cans it should be too quiet to make a difference.
hal9e3
Not much. I have the Lachute res/Y w/ stock cans and it added a bit of a growl. If you want some more you can ditch the stock tips and put on the Borla round or oval clamp-on tips. Install w/ pics of oval tips here.
system60
With TuboXs catted downpipe and perrin mid&y with stock mufflers it's barely louder than stock, only really noticeable when under load.
need bb
Bummer. I want something a little deeper than stock but not something that will drone
