Recommended Posts

that would be me

im going full build route, its not cheap by any means but what is?

i may tear the block down to get it ready and see how the ring or ringlands look just for curiosity sake.

im suspecting rings were just worn w high miles.

See you on Saturday. :)

I love to walk in there, so many interesting things to look at. As I was leaving there was this long 6 cylinder head. I looked at it and said 4 valves per cylinder and then say oh BMW. The guy paid $2000 for the replacement head, because his cracked. Then he brought it to them to rebuilt the replacement.

Max, did you go with a killer b pickup and windage tray? We are liking them a lot on our recent motor builds.

No, it looked my pickup over real good and there are no hints of cracks in the joints.

Eastwoods will clean it real good before they put it on. I'll have them look it over too. Mine is a early 05 so I don't think anyone has had a problem with the tube cracking with early 05's.

Ha then I would say oh ok so that means I get them for free right?

Yea, right...lol.

Yep, got them, the 4 half moons for free, along with the 2 oil actuator gaskets.

The oil pan is on with all new bolts because I forgot to bring them. They painted the oil pan too.

the oil pan comes black from subaru

That is true, but mother nature makes it rusty color...

Trying to come up with a way to keep the oil cooler crossover tube from rusting so badly. Undercoating won't work because its to close to the exhaust. May be some high temp paint.

We removed the banjo filter from the drivers side head today too. The one on the back of the passenger side head was removed when the P0011 and P0021 codes popped up in Feb 11.

That's good news. You'll have it all up & running by the end of the weekend, right LOL

Happy motoring, when it all back together.

Hopefully next weekend, GF wants to do some landscaping tomorrow, then Mothers day, next Sunday a friend is taking his Outlaw Integra to Epping Dragway for it's shakedown passes.

Looking good. Personally I would have gone with forged pistons. My stock 2011 sti had the ringland failure on it at 25k miles and it is 100% stock.

My friend bought a '12 sti and after 2k miles engine went on it. Not sure what went wrong but soa just replaced w a longblock.

So anywho i have mc's old sb and im not 100% sure which route to go but im leaning towards cp pistons w stock rods maybe .20 over. Have to read up on builds and plan this build.

Did a little more work today. Put the new intake hose to the turbo on, the old one had a small tare on the turbo end.

Put the bottom together, oil cooler, cooler crossover tube and new hoses. Put the top water tube on. Then realized I had to put the valve cover water hoses on too. I want to replace them first, I'll order them tomorrow. Also need 8 crush washers for the oil feed banjo's and the water feed to the turbo banjo. They were not in the gasket kit.

I took bmx045 idea and cleaned up the underside of the TVG's too. That was a good idea.

Here's one of the intake ports after porting, there was more work done down around the valve pocket too. The exhaust side was all in the valve pocket.
