Info on OB to GT suspension geometry. (Removing spacer)

Recommended Posts

I wonder if you could roll the metal, then use a heat-gun and form up the lip on the OB flares?

I will be trying something similar to that. I need new flares anyway so if mine get messed up I won't be too mad.

On some pictures its a little hard to make out the difference between the parts but looking directly at the parts the differences are obvious!

You got it, rear trailing arm are the same but braket are different. They hold the trailing arm closer to the body. Uca have different parts number and I am not sure about getting those aftermarket but I am pretty sure one could keep the obxt ones and simply change the bump stops for the shorter lgt

I can understand all this work if I plan to track the wagon but for it being a daily, I don't think it will bother me so much.

This is good info. I'm glad there is people like you to help the community out for people who is looking to do this in the future.

Cool, I will look into the trailing arm bracket tomorrow to check on prices, bolts too I suppose.

bolts not needed and I think brakets are under 30$ each.

4 are the bumpstops. I don't remember their part number off hand.

6 is the front LCA bushing stud (the rear front LCA bushing)

7 is the cover plate for 6

13 and 14 are the same, but for the other side of the car

15 is the rear trans crossmember horizontal.

Not sure what 16 is just yet.

Should be doing it sometime next week. I'll try to get side by side pictures of each parts.

Now I'm still trying to source a nice cheap set of wheel that I can use until I get the ones I really want.

  • 2 weeks later...

Picked up my subframe bolts, washers and trailing arm brackets today. Hopefully I have a chance to put them on in the next week or two.

I didn't order the rear upper control arms but after talking with another member it seems that removing the spacers but not replacing control arms will put the bumpstop way too close to current control arm.

Thoughts?

I suppose you have gt bumpstops already?

I receive my rims on Monday, so next week I'll install the whole thing and i'll take pictures to actualy compare all parts including the rear UCA.

How much did you invest in doing the swap?

How much did you invest in doing the swap?

I purchased all the needed parts for the swap shown on picture in previous page including the GT rack and pinion for 260$ and then 100$ for shipping.

It was a good deal!!! I got all the parts with rack and pinion but minus the tranny cross member pieces from a part-out on Nasioc for 200$ and the tranny cross member I got on ebay for 60$ shipped.

Coil overs, wheels and other misc. parts well that just surplus!
