Info on OB to GT suspension geometry. (Removing spacer)

Recommended Posts

Hey everyone,

My apologies on bringing an old thread back up. I finished swapping a used oem LGT set into my 08 OB, love the drop but will definitely need saggy butt spacers to even it out. Also swapped the bump stops but left the lcas for now.

I also have a set of Tein S-Techs from an LGT and was wondering if ever I decide to install them, would I need to do the spacer removal, etc.? The only reason I got the Teins is because they were $50. Hah!

I am happy with the drop of the oem LGT springs/struts, but if I don't mind if I can close the gap with Teins without doing a lot of work.

Figured I would make this so people can see exactly what is what.

1. Shift Rod (Do not know part number)

2. Shift Rod (Do not know part number)

3. 901000304 <=== Flange Bolts for subframe. Need Four. $3.75 each

4. 20501AE00A <=== Bumpstops

5. 901000304 <=== Flange Bolts for subframe. Need Four. $3.75 each

6. LCA bushing stud (Do not know part number)

7. LCA cover plate (Do not know part number)

8. 20540AE090 <== Rear Lower Trailing Arm Bracket LFT Side. $20.89

9. 20250AE04A <=== Rear Upper Control Arm Left: $77.00

10. 34170AG021 <== Steering Linkage U Joint. $140.00

11. 20250AE02A <=== Rear Upper Control Arm Right: $77.00

12. 20540AE080 <== Rear Lower Trailing Arm Bracket RT Side:$20.89

13.

14.

15. Rear Transmission horizontal crossmember (Dont know part number)

16. Front Subframe Bolts (Do not know part number)

17. Center Exhaust Heat Shield (Do not know part number)

18. Transmission Sub Frame (Do not know part number)

19. Drive Shaft (Do not know part number)

If someone wants to jump in with the names for the other parts and part numbers for what I don't know that would be great!!

Just a quick heads-up for people looking into doing this mod, and don't feel like reading through 19 pages like me. I cross-referenced side by side the Legacy GT wagon and Outback XT on OpposedForces to make my own list before stumbling upon this thread.

Bolts 16 are not needed for the front subframe. Same part number for both applications. Same with the bolts for the transmission crossmember, same part numbers. The only bolts that I found that were actually different were the ones for the rear subframe, numbers 3 and 5 in this image (listed twice for some reason).

I had originally found that the part numbers matched for bolt 14 control arm rear stud. However this is a newer part number and at least in 05 they were actually different. Not sure what year they switched over but might not be a bad idea to grab them just in case.

I know this is an old thread but thank you all for your contributions. I just finished up and everything went smooth

Looking at the parts and everything and parts.subaru.com has changed and opposed forces are missing some parts numbers.

Did you pull all the parts from the donor car you had or did you buy them? Trying to confirm part numbers for the bolts for the front and rear crossmembers. They appear to be the same?

I went to the junkyard for some of it and Subaru for some of it. I have a list if you need it. I also have some parts leftover if you need them. Rear bolts, 2 of the upper cup washers that replace the rear spacers, the two rear lower cup washers that replace the spare well brace (I used a legacy spare well brace) shift linkage, steering linkage, front LCA stud plates.

Just going to lower it with the legacy bc coils for now and hope I don't get any binding at max height with kart boy end links. You're the first to mention it and it's a worthy mention for this thread.

Decided can't risk having something go wrong (always does) and being without a vehicle. Would appreciate the list though for future reference.

That is easily the most complete list on this or any forum I've seen. Including the aluminum upper bits and important bushings and stuff while you're in there. Fantastic. Much appreciated.

Thanks, I have some good info on that driveshaft if anyone is going to order it. First of all, the quality was too notch, it has replaceable u joints and carrier, it also has an additional u joint just behind the carrier which improved alignment from carrier to rear diff. And allows for more flexibility they suspension cycle. Most importantly, I find the actual source of the driveshaft so it's possible to get it even cheaper if they will still direct. It's well worth the money I paid but there's an opportunity to save a few bucks on it.3655b9ddf0d5d9204cfb36ef58e9a290.jpg96df7beda4f72bb9ee89fe821bfecefd.jpg

I've been following this thread for a while wanting to do the proper Legacy suspension swap on my 05 Outback H6 5EAT. Finally starting to collect the parts to make it happen and this thread is goldmine of info. Thanks to everyone who has contributed!

My understanding is most of these swaps are done with the XT models and manual trans. I'm looking for a Legacy driveshaft that will fit the H6 and 5EAT drivetrain combo. Was such a shaft available in the Legacy models?

Thanks for the link.

27111AE17A fits:

- Legacy 3.0L AT 4WD L Sedan 2005

- Legacy 3.0L AT 4WD Outback Wagon 2005

Don't think this is the one. Suspect "AT" is not the same as the "5AT" transmission?

27111AG16A & 27111AG12A fit:

- Outback 2.5L TURBO 5AT XT 2005-2008

- Outback 2.5L TURBO 5AT XT Limited 2005-2009

- Outback 3.0L 5AT L.L.Bean 2005-2009 ***My Vehicle***

- Outback 3.0L 5AT Limited 2005-2009

- Outback 3.0L 5AT R 2005-2009

I'm pretty sure the one(s) below will work but would feel much more confident if someone could verify.

27111AG06A & 27111AG02A fit:

- Legacy 2.5L TURBO 5AT 4WD GT Limited Sedan 2005-2009

- Legacy 2.5L TURBO 5AT 4WD GT Limited Wagon 2005-2008

- Legacy 2.5L TURBO 5AT 4WD GT Wagon 2005-2008

- Legacy 3.0L 5AT 4WD Limited Sedan 2008-2009

- Legacy 3.0L 5AT 4WD R Sedan 2008-2009

I bought a 2005 Legacy GT 5EAT shaft from driveshaftstore.com and got it installed (https://driveshaftstore.com/Subaru-Legacy-Driveshaft-2005-111530). The length is good but as expected had to add ~25mm worth of spacers and longer mounting bolts (M10 x 1.25 x 70mm) to make up for the different carrier bearing bracket offset.

Been a while since anyone was here, but I have read sections of this several times.

What troubles can I expect if I raise the rear cradle only and skip the rest? I would be lowering the front using GT Struts/springs and Whiteline KCA313 ball joint kit.
