Ok its a long list but here it goes.

New engine, Air Flow Meter, Coolant temp sensor, Knock Sensor.

1. When cold and after start, resonble amount of smoke out back smells very rich... (fuels ecconomy shit but arnt all subarus) (oil cunsumption a little but bugger all maybee 1/2 a litre every 10000kms

2. Idle fine after start, but if you rev it a few times when it returns to idle it runs like a sack of shit.

3. When driving and its cold, when it changes into second there is a bog down / hesitation if you put your foot down more it doesnt seem to do anything but changes the engine sound (like to much fuel) the kick down ie changing down a gear doesnt really seem to work well when cold either) safty thing?

PLEASEE HELP ME!!!!!!!!, such a wonderfull car when its hot, but a peice of shit when its cold,, spent a fortune trying to figure this out, still no luck though...

Vac prob most likely m8. You'll need to check all the lines for cracks, blockages and proper connections. Could be that you need to clean them out. Check the boost solenoid too.

They do run very rich on start up, but smoke (sure it ain't condensation?) is never a good sign. Poor idle can also be caused by a bad lamda, or earthing that has gone to pot.

Please tell us where you are, too.

For twin turbos: UKLegacy or yahoo groups - legacyb4 (defacto twin turbo central ;) )

Cheers:)

mackryan - when the Ultimate Subaru (http://www.ultimatesubaru.net) board comes back up you might see if you have a problem with your idle air control (IAC) valve. The symptoms you state make me think that if you have one, it is sticking. I don't know what complement of hardware is on your car considering it's a NZ (or JDM?) model, but if you have an IAC and it isn't working your cold idle will be too low and too rich. You can (very carefully!) clean these but you should definitely search the Ultimate board about it first.

m8, checking those things is easy, vac hoses all over the engine bay of the TT

IAC is possible - but hopefully if the engine is new "new", then it would've been checked on the way in... Worth a look though.
