btb
The rear wiper on my 1997 Legacy L has stopped functioning. I think the motor has burned out. I would like to test this before I go out and buy a new motor. Does anyone know how to test a wiper motor to determine if it is burned out? Will I need an ohm meter? Thanks. Fast Eddie
You can start by disconnecting the connector, turning the switch on, and checking for voltage with a VOM or test light. If there's voltage, check for continuiity with an ohm meter. If there's continuity, you can "hot wire" the motor with a FUSED jumper to verify its operation. Don't jump to conclusions. Stalk switches in all types of vehicles fail all the time.
