Swamp
I'm new so please excuse me if I mees up. I'm working on a '95 Legacy wagon. I get code #P1101. "manufaturer controlled fuel air metering". I haven't been able to figure out what's causing it. Any ideas?
Osei
Welcome. Being a RHD it may be listed as a 94 JDM version. check here for possibilities. http://www.main.experiencetherave.com/subaru_manual_scans/ The 95 USDM model i found may be different for codes, maybe not. Subaru's p1101 is different than other cars. When I googled. I found that it refers to the neutral switch being in the off mode. http://www.aboutautomobile.com/DTC/P1101 Is yours an MT? fwd or awd? The switch is on the drivers side the closest one to the driveshaft. O.
Swamp
My Actron scanner says it's the manufacturer controlled fuel/air metering. It's definately a fuel problem. The car starts and idles but won't accelerate. When I turn the key on, I hear the fuel pump for a few seconds then it shuts off for a few seconds then comes back on. This continues until the key is turned off. I tried 2 other fuel pressure regulators from the junkyard and got the same results. different ECM, MAF and pressure sensor. Fuel runs right through the pressure regulators. If I restrict the fuel return line with vicegrips, I can get it to rev.
Swamp
Oh. And it's an automatic. Body plate says built in 6/94 but VIN says it's a 95.
Osei
Looking at the currrent DTC this corresponds to the new P0170 fuel trim malfunction. Do search for DTC chart and you'll get diagnostics etc. If unable to find, pm me your email and I'll send you a copy of mine. Most common listed is a loose air hose. Usually the fat one that comes up from the intake and goes to the bottom of the air box. O.
