Dude, that think looks sick! How much do I owe you? :)

So, you got to drive it. What do you think? Fun? Looks fun. How is the 'manual' auto feature?

Did you find out what the CEL codes were? The seller said that he did the timing belt, water pump, brakes, and tires. Are the tires in good shape?

We'll have to figure out how the hell we are going to get that old school SS awesomeness out here to SLC. But the drive from Denver is pretty short, and a nice one at that. My uncle lives in Aurora. I wouldn't want to drive it out until March, because my wife would be scared of snow storms.

I'm going to drive it stock for a while, and then turn that thing into an STI killing DD monster. Well, maybe. EJ205 heads at the least. Vroom vroom.

edit: Don't wreck it, lol!

It is sick! I love it! You only owe me what I paid for it. :)

I did drive it and it's SUPER nice! There was only one little issue that I noticed and that was a bit of body contact somewhere while bouncing over the frozen ground. Nothing major. Either a transmission/engine mount that either loose or needing replace or it's something with the struts. However, the struts feel just fine as far as bounce recovery.

As far as the body, there is only one rust spot behind the front passenger wheel and it's only the fender. Otherwise, not a spot of rust! Amazing!

The transmission is great. Shifts perfect and no hesitation at all at acceleration. In fact, it gets up and goes just like you would expect.

Not sure what the CEL code is, but based on driving it, my guess is bad O2 sensor or knock sensor. The car runs and drives absolutely perfectly. So, it's definitely something simple.

Timing belt, water pump, thermostat, brakes and tires are all brand new. The guy that was selling it definitely knew what was up with cars. He only got rid of it because he's a BMW guy and decided to stick with what he knew. He wants to get together later and hang out too. Pretty cool guy, really. I'm gonna go to the track with him this summer and run some laps. So, he's not definitely not shady. He still wants to keep in touch and see what happens with the SS. Lol.

Definitely need to figure out how to get it to SLC. The drive is relatively short. No big deal. The only issue is that the car isn't registered or anything. So, no insurance and no plates. As far snow storms, HAH! It's a frickin' Subaru! :) The tires and in terrific shape. I would have all the faith in the world doing 80-90 MPH on a snowy/icy highway in this thing (with me driving, of course...) You're good to go, man!

Wreck it?! Lol. I'm not even going to be driving it! It's not registered! :) Just gonna sit at my house. I will start it periodically though for the engine's sake. And, if I can' drive it around the neighborhood a bit just to keep greasy things greased. Otherwise, it's just chillin'...

I'll look into how I can get a temporary registration out here even though it is an out of state vehicle. I have the vin no. My insurance company will work with me too.

O2 or knock sensor is no big deal at all! And snow storms don't scare me, just my DW. You can drive it out here whenever! :p

JK about you wrecking it. It's in good hands. Just don't let your mom drive it, lol. We don't want her getting any ideas.

Any rust or dents I can fix!

:spin::wub::spin::wub:

It's going to a good home. You guys can visit it anytime.

Lol. I'm sure we will. I pass through Utah somewhat often visiting Vegas. :)

The rust isn't terrible. But, it might not be worth repairing. If you can find a good front RH Gen1 Legacy fender, I would just replace it. *shrug* However, I wouldn't junk the one that's on it. Those fenders are getting more and more rare!

Seriously, if you can get temp tags and insurance on the beast, I'll totally drive it to you! Haha. I would actually love to do that. I really want to see how great this car is. I've driven many EJ22T's. But, none that were in a stock SS. I know I'm going to regret giving this to you at some point in my life. Lol.

And yes, it is going to a good home. I have complete confidence in that. If, for any reason, you EVER end up wanting/needing to get rid of it, you know who to call. :)

You will be the SS's godfather. I'll talk to my insurance company in the next few days and figure out how all of this will work.

I know, how cool would it be to drive a stock SS? I think both of us will know soon enough.

How was the acceleration on this lil' beast?

Honestly, it really got up and went. It's got the auto trans with the "sport mode" button. I checked the turbo spool while test driving it with the seller in the car. Seemed perfectly fine. I haven't tested out the sport mode at all. But, in the short drive to my house after I bought it, seemed to drive like a V6 easily (I never actually boosted it at all on my drive home...) Up hills, from the stops, etc... it just plain went. I didn't even really need to give it any extra gas going up hills or anything. I was really surprised...

Yep! It really is a nice buy... I swear, if it weren't an automatic, I'd be keeping it. :) Honestly, I don't even know how to drive an automatic. VERY limited experience.

I just called my mom and told her you were sending the money. She's bummed. Lol.

Wow...that was really nice of you. Man the Subaru community is awesome :D

I know, right! Beyond nice. I'm super grateful. eekay, I sent you a check! Don't sell it to anyone!!! :p

So my wife still doesn't know so it will be a surprise. But I have been baiting her. I showed her a pic of a really clean dark SS this morning and said "Wow, isn't that gorgeous? Wouldn't that be rad to have one of those?"

She might be a little mad for a day since I got it without consulting her, but she'll get over it real quick as soon as she starts to drive the coolest Subaru ever.

eekay, do you know if it recently passed safety and emissions? I am going to find out how to register and insure it so we can get it out here. Thanks!

No problem, duder! It was a pleasure. :)

The wife should be pretty excited about it. She might not be upset at all. Well, hopefully. Haha.

And yes. Passed emissions just a little while back. There's paperwork in the glove box that the guy left with the emissions info. We don't have safety inspections here (besides strict emissions) so I'm not sure about that. However, all seat belts, lights, blinkers, etc... work perfectly. I don't see why it wouldn't pass any kind of inspection.

When we work out the details of you bringing it out here, I'll get a temporary UT permit that lasts 15 days and send it to you. All you have to do is stick it in the window. The car will be fully insured at that point and you will be covered under my policy. I looked into temporarily registering it in CO but it would have been a huge pain in the ass and I would have had to pay sales tax and then pay UT sales tax again!

How the hell will you get home? Find another SS out here to drive back? lol.

Oh, it's gonna be a keeper for sure. I am having a good time teasing my wife. I was showing her some vids on youtube of some SSs. "Gee, wouldn't that be cool?" "Yeah, that's awesome." "Hey, come here, here is a video of a black one. Isn't that bad ass?"

I'm going to get safety and emissions and plates on it before I show it to her. When she comes home from work it will have one of those corny over sized bows on it, sittin' pretty in the driveway! :p
