root_galaxy
Hey al, Former Evo X owner and i'm looking to buy a legacy gt, evo was totalled and the gt is a bigger car and can still b quick. I found one that looks like exactly what I want: 05 LGT 36k miles adult owned and driven by a lady. Looks perfect except for a couple door dings on the drivers side door. I got them down to $15,200, Does this sound resonable?? and also if i do purchase, what should I look for? Should i preform any tests before i jump the gun?? Thanks guys!!! LosAngelesLGT
Nowhere near enough information. Limited? Unlimited? Dealer maintained? Carfax? 5mt? Actually, not unless its just the color/combo you want. I just got a 06 obxt 5mt 50k miles, FLAWLESS for around 17k. Originally almost 32k. The car you are looking at could have been an early 05 cloth for under 25k originally. KBB is your friend too. IF GETTING ONE UNMOLESTED IS IMPORTANT TO YOU AS A STARTING PLATFORM, THIS MIGHT BE YOUR LGT.

The unmolested part is very appealing to me, it's a litlle more than blue book, but in CO it's hard to find a good used LGT, seems like everyone uses them for what they were meant for, what kinda crap is that??? lol oh it is red too
Drift Motion
red is a rare color! too bad it's not a limited/manual...
LosAngelesLGT
5spd auto, ...turn it into my project Thats an antonym, auto + project. Don't become a regretful AT owner. red is a rare color! too bad it's not a limited/manual...

Gelacy
Reason being?? Because if it was a manual you'd know any man would have already molested it. Most men love rowing through the gears and having a bulky object firm in their hand.
chutrain
The auto is a big power sap, and doesn't like holding big power. What are you power goals?
root_galaxy
The auto is a big power sap, and doesn't like holding big power. What are you power goals? Nothing big like a full built motor or anything but probably full bolt ons and a custom tune, I'd line to do e85 but I haven't seen much on that yet... Just getting started
LosAngelesLGT
<----e85. Plenty of info on that. Full bolt ons will demolish an AT tranny in a second if done right. Full bolt ons will threaten a 5mt tranny if really done right on e85 (my new setup) and threaten the motor . In general if you want more than stage 2 power (downpipe, tune) you want an MT. There are some exciting things going on in the AT camp right now but not nearly exciting enough to sway us toward an AT on our current purchase. Thanks for the input, your right, I don't think I would do much more than about stage 2 miss with a pro tune from TheBoostCreep, thankfully he's here in town and a very well respected tuner. How much do you think I could get power/tqe wise with stage 2 and e85 tune? what's reliable power for daily driver?
LosAngelesLGT
In general oem fueling cannot keep up with stage 2/e85 (although IIRC TheBoostCreep is in CO and you may be over 5000ft in which case I have read some e85 on oem turbo - ask TheBoostCreep) Its not a great idea to do stage 2 and e85 on an unmodded AT tranny (argueable at altitude) Its not a great idea to do stage 2 on an AT tranny without a valve body mod (argueable) Read some of the AT valve body and AT tuning threads and make your own decision. I think AT tranny is perfect for stage 2 power. Ive seen more than a few people run 16g/vf52 and Ive seen the same turbos toast a AT tranny with VB mod. Big power minded buyer beware and trans cooler is a must. In general, stage 2 is where its at. Oem reliability. Outrageous low end grunt.
scoobyscoodle
The AT can handle much more power than most people think. It's really a matter of how much money you want to spend and how you intend to drive/use your car.

dgoodhue
If your expecting performance anywhere close to Evo X I would caution you on buying an auto. A stage 2 manual seems like they are approaching stock Evo performance.

I'm being realistic and not expecting the same, I really did fall in love with my Evo's Twin Clutch Auto Tranny, never had driven an auto like that, but i need a bigger sedan. I still want something fun that'll go and grip like no other in the snow and I think the Legacy is a happy medium for me, I keep hearing nothing but good things about them.
