NYsFinest
And well I was a redlight. So a late model BMW pulls up, a 740 or 750 I think not sure what year probably mid to late 90's. Anyways he gets on it as the light turns green, blows away, anyone know what the hp is on that car?
NYsFinest
Anyone just know the answer offhand. If ya do you do, if not no big deal. That site is alright but I don't have time to put in all that info looking for what I saw, just wondered if someone knew off hand. Thanks anyways. axis008
I'd say somewhere between 200-300HP. They are probably really heavy with lots of torque. -ben
rallispec
a 4.4 liter V8 puttiing out either 285 or 325 depending on how old it was and the model, most likely. not really a fast car though, as it is really heavy. are you sure it was a 7 series that you saw? melayout
2001 740 V8 - 282HP @ 5400 RPM / 324 @ 3700RPM - 4300 LB2001 750 V12 - 326HP @ 5000 RPM / 361 @ 3900 RPM - 4600 LB BHP-to-Weight Ratio : LGT - 250/3400 = 0.0735740 - 282/4300 = 0.0656750 - 321/4600 = 0.0698 WHP-to Weight Ratio assuming, 15% RWD, 25% AWD:LGT - 188/3400 = 0.0553740 - 253/4300 = 0.0588750 - 289/4600 = 0.0628 750 would burn you, 740 would walk you. Even using Cobb's base HP dyno figures, the ratio is still lower than the 740 by a pinch. I keed I keeed

tytek
i have driven a 2004 760iL hard and it sucks off the line... but once you gather some speed (above 50-60mph) it is pretty quick - you can definately feel the 438hp all the way up to an indicated 165mph. 745i is quick but non L-GT-threating fast. the new 750i could potentially be quicker than stock L-GT 5spd. I will find out in a few months can't wait!
NYsFinest
Melayout, yea it looked like that kinda. It was definitely a 7 series. I have a Automatic on my LGT, and I find if I floor it, the turbo doesn't kick in like I would like or non-existent, but if I go half way the turbo kicks in nicely. I'm sure someone who knows about cars more than I do can quickly explain the reason behind that.......again, thanks in advance.

NYsFinest
Happily my g/f is on her laptop right now and has found the exact car that was on the road w/ me yesterday. It was a 2000 750 IL. Anyways on the jump at the light, I floored and he pulled away from me at a reasonable pace. Maybe b/c my car is automatic?
melayout
The 2000 BMW 7 trims are identical to the 2001 specs I posted before. With a V12 and no lag, it should sting you, as illustrated. I keed I keeed
NYsFinest
Yea, but I caught up quickly and then stung him, so I got some manhood back, haha. melayout
I think it is an ECU algorithm, which detects throttle spikes, e.g. Mash teh pedal, and delays the actuation of the throttle body. It has features of a hysteresis, e.g. Fuel Cut, algorithm. I keed I keeed
brhays
Yeah, that's not what the 750/760 series is about anyway, they're Autobahn cruisers, cars that you could set the cruise control at 160 without batting an eyelash. Grew up in various 750iL's, and they're too damn heavy to trash a turbo Suby. Now, I was revving against a Mercedes SLK55, ready to embarrass this supposed "sports car" by having a Subaru sedan hang with it, when it blew by me like I hadn't launched at all. Guess I should have noticed the "AMG" badge on the back. Anyone know how the Leg GT stacks up against various M5's? Never start modding, kids. It's too late for me, save yourselves! IAHAWK
The M5 is a beast!! Now I've only test driven the LGT so I'm not the best one to judge, but I would say the LGT would probably stay even from 0-20 because its hard to launch a M5. After that it would be all over. Now when the new M5 comes out... no chance!!! It has the cool launch mode!!
