TSiWRX
Actually, I don't think that's an unreasonable opinion. There's a contingent of us here on this Forum who seem to come from high-performance (well, "decent performance," in any case! LOL!) sports-coupes or sedans....switching over to four-doors either due to family needs or the need to be more stealthy for our enforcers - or looking for AWD for the first time. Although the bone-stock '05 LGT offers plenty of performance, it's not a super-sedan by any means, either. Certainly, we're all hard-pressed to find another sedan south of the $45-50K mark that even comes close to the straight-line figures of our LGTs. But let's not kid ourselves, with the hop-up market being what it is today, many of us may have had "the fastest car on the block" in our garages at one point in time, and the LGT, although it offers some great compromises, may not be the fastest in our stable. -A <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family

Whoa91
well im saying it felt slow in the fact that, i was expecting more. I know it is not a slow car. im coming out of a 2001 vw passat v6, which is muchhh slower. But the reason my expectations were high may be because ive been driving my brothers stage 2 sti around lately
fzanetti
Get a Stage II for about 1K ollars and you will feel a huuuuge difference in performance!!!! heheheheheheehehehe Legacy GT's are very fast cars, however they are not aspirated cars, and you won't find low end torque, as you would in a M3, G35, Porsches etc... So it will require a little more from the driver to hit those performance numbers... Another question, was your test car MT or 5EAT? suba_rus
Car dealerships usually put regular gas in any car and Legacy GT needs premium. Based on my own experience ;-(. We just had 05 STI for trade in my dealrship and morons at the management desk put regular in it, dumbarrrses.

However, I think you can search the posts and find very few if any statements saying this care is "pretty slow" - LOL. I have read his response to this and understand he is coming from a Passat. I still have one in my garage and it is slow compared to the LGT. However, if you are coming from a perf. car (+45K) yes, in relative terms, it may be slower... but not pretty slow - IMHO. I too have personal knowledge that dealerships put mid grade fuel in the vehicle. It does say in our manual however you can do this if the higher grade is not available - for short periods of time. I believe however, you will notice a slight perf. loss. When I took delivery of my car, I made sure they filled it with 91 vs. the suggested 89 octane the salesman said they usually fill up with. Agreed - definitely, those who've said that the car "felt slow" have referenced it to something else - typically something much faster, LOL! ------ Whoa91 - Definitely, "expectations" can put anyone off-mark quite a bit. If you've just been hearing/reading about the wonderful performance of the LGts, there's no doubt that you're going to be heading in to the dealership test-drive with some rather elevated expectations. Although I at first "felt" the LGT was "slow," one look down at the speedo during my spirited test drive revealed otherwise. And definitely, the first time I took the car to redline in first-gear certainly changed my perception a bit, too. Now, comparing your brother's Stage 2 STi to a stock LGT? That's just not fair! A Stage 2 STi is not only truly faster -objectively-, but also will feel subjectively faster as well (even its stock suspension will cause this "feeling" to be transferred through, not to mention the feel of the turbo hitting). Try out a stock WRX, then get back to us again. -A <-- I love Winky, my "periwinkle" (ABP) LGT! - Allen / Usual Suspect "DumboRAT" / One of the Three Stooges '16 Outback, '16 WRX, 7th Subaru Family
