Can or should I get a better Deal

Recommended Posts

Currently I'm working on a deal for an '05 Limited GT sedan with the spoiler. STS, Momo knob, petals, armrest extension and the rocker trim. The best price that the dealer is giving me is so far is $27,800 after rebate but before TTL. I don't need this car but it would be nice. And I'm willing to walk away and wait for the '06s to show up. So how much farthur should I push $27K, $27,250 max?

27,800? for a stick. Walk away! I got my Auto for $26,964 out the door including TTL. That was with a 2500 trade but I only got $1000 rebate cash.

So with a stick being 1200 less plus the other $500 in the $1500 rebate they now offer you should be able to walk out of there for about $27,764 INCLUDING TTL

Oh and mine is fully loaded with all options

Dude, stop kidding yourself with "fully loaded".:D:lol:

You get to choose between 2 options, Un-Limited and Limited, hehe, unless you bought every friggin accessory for the car.:D

A BMW for 15K over MSRP, now that's fully loaded.:)

Ummmm when you have like $1500 worth of options I would say it is fully loaded. And if you are trying to bring up the auto vs manual crap again. Don't bother.

I am just trying to give the guy a perspective. My price out the door only included a $1000 rebate but has almost every single option except the auto momo shift knob. I have everything else, even the gay all weather floormats haha. $33 :)

I'm in Michigan where we only have the $1,000 rebate and that blows

Yeah, Michigan is like Colorado/Alaska, Subarus are in demand.

But again the 06' are about to come out and I would say the price should be at least $1000 less.

They even have an STI/Subaru Research and Development center in Ann Arbor.

It's harder to get a good deal in MI/OH, definitely..... OH is not so bad, but MI, from the looks on this Forum, seems to have more troubles.

If you can do without, I'd get rid of the STi short-throw, the MOMO knob, and the pedals. Those can either easily be had in the aftermarket, which is then suited to your PERSONAL tastes (the only thing is that the go-pedal will then be a cover, not a true pedal replacement - but then again, that'll save you a whole lot of install trouble, too, and is un-noticeable in-use), and at some very decent price, too. Furthermore, even a beginner can easily install such components.

The additional benefit is that especially for the short-throw shifter, many on this Forum seem biased toward the aftermarket.

After having had a B&M for my TSi -which has a notoriously bad-feeling shift action that the B&M magically cleaned up- I can say that the shift-feel with the factory STi short-throw on our LGT is nothing to write home about, and that you truly are perhaps best served to go aftermarket, and save the not insignificant amount of dough by overlooking this factory option.

What was the original MSRP on the car including the options? You should be getting around $4K or more off of MSRP, so if the sticker was $31,500 or higher then you are getting a decent deal.

You shouldn't worry about the MSRP on a car. Always know what the invoice is on that exact car. Let the dealer know that you know what they paid for it. They also have dealer holdback on the vehicle so they are still going to make some $ on it even if they give it to you at invoice.

I got mine for $200 under invoice and let hime keep the remainder or his holdback (I am such a nice guy hahaha)

One thing to remember Mblock is that you have a non ltd vs his ltd..giving him the ltd version tacs on $2,500 bone stock with no accessories. just my .02 But to agree with you, i would have to say out the door price (cause i love dealing with that number) i would look to somewhere in the neighborhood of upper 27,000 maybe.

The sticker is $30,600 and the cost to the dealer after holdback is $26,300

OK, if the dealer is quoting you $27,850 then it is NOT that great a deal relatively. You should be able to get $26,600 or better if you shop around. Definitely don't pay more than $27,000.

People ARE getting $4,000 or more off MSRP these days on 2005s, so you need to shop around. Don't be afraid to drive/travel a few hours to get the best deal.

The car is being delivered from the factory so it should have next to no miles.

Huh? There are still 2005s coming from the factory? Are you sure about that? The dealers I have talked to (e.g. Fitzmall) said the 2005s have been done for a while and 2006s are on the way. Your dealer could be getting a "trade" from another dealer and calling it "from the factory" since it has low miles. Who knows, but it seems awful late to be getting factory 2005 Legacies in (I could be wrong).

Anyhoo, I agree with wukindada...no more than $27,000, whether from the "factory" or the moon or wherever.

When I last e-mailed him (yesterday AM) the car hadn't yet come in. But in preparation I have gotten out my fine toothed comb and I'm getting it ready for use.

Also what can you guys tell me about Fitzmall; personal experiences, purchases. etc...

I might just wait for the '06s if their (Fitzmall) price will be comparable to this dealers best price on an '05
