Saw another post with injury pics so I thought I'd post mine. This is what happens when speed exceeds talent. Possible titles:

"When Handlebar Met Sternum"

"The Village Idiot"

P.S. - they're real, and they're...well, not so spectacular:redface:

Endoed on my MTB and centerpunched my sternum with the end of the handlebar - which, incidentally, had no bar end due to clipping a tree the previous week. I didn't think I'd broken my sternum or ribs but I've broken ribs before and not known it so I went to the ER that night to make sure everything was OK. After an X-ray, tetanus shot and CT scan I left the hospital with a relatively clean bill of health. Time in ER - 5 hours. There are a couple of cycling sayings that are applicable here:

"If you're not bleeding when you finish you weren't riding hard enough"

"If it doesn't keep you from riding it's not a serious injury"

Yeah, as is often the case with injuries like this its severity (read PAIN) was not evident until after I finished riding, even tho this occurred about 1/3 of the way in. Adrenalin - good for what ails ya:)
