Relocated Battery

Has anyone considered relocating the battery to the trunk of a Legacy? Lets say you took a Optima sealed battery and spotted it in the trunk. How muck would this improve weight distribution and or handeling? Our cars are somewhat front heavy. Correct? Anyone want to try the math?

You would NEVER notice the difference and could not prove a statistical difference in ANY type of test you might try. If you have any intentions of racing, make sure you check the rule book as there are typically requirements for sealed boxes with vents, even for sealed batteries.

Have at it, but don't expect a miricle.

Ressurecting this old thread after doin a search. I can't believe nobody has jumped on this very effective and easy mod. I see threads where people are removing the spare and taking out other stuff that weighs a couple pounds. If you move 30-40 pds from the front to the back that's = taking 60-80 pds off the front end. Also, not sure about the sedan but I have a wagon and I think I can put the battery on top of the spare and it will be sitting lower than it was in the front helping to lower my center of gravity. I probably wouldn't put a non-sealed battery in the passenger compartment but when its time to replace the battery this seems like a worthwhile mod. I realize I could probably never tell the difference by seat of the pants but it sure beats dumping the spare/jack.
