StrangeRanger
Oh please please please make this work. I've got a trunk full of FM adapters that blow so much goat it's stoopid. I'm almost to the point of taking a big hammer to my stock a/c crippled radio. What moron ever thought this would be a good idea? -sr
StrangeRanger
Forgot to ask, can I assume the BT interface will need one of your jazzy boxes installed in the radio right? -sr
Hoojammyflip
Will this device work with a JDM audio unit? I notice from your other thread that those are not compatible... Amazing work by the way - you have the patience of a saint

96r50
Woah, this looks fantastic! I've got a Leptronix board and Parrot CK3000 ready to install but I may have to hold off and see where this goes. iPhone compatibility would be a plus for me if it's possible. Thanks for working on this!
SCHM1AN
Yea - it will be compatible with any bluetooth device - except possibly iPhones since Apple crippled their bluetooth interface. I'll have to do some more digging, but at one time at least you needed an authentication chip to allow an iPhone to stream over A2DP (which this module does not have). jazzymt
I've been extremely busy lately so no updates of note, but just to clarify - if I ever do finish this project it will be a completely new board - it will not use or require the one I currently make. It is possible it will need 2 boards though - I'm not sure if the bluetooth radio can be located inside the headunit - it might impair the bluetooth connectivitiy too much since it is basically a metal shell. Also - it will not be compatible with JDM or European (or any other overseas) Subaru radio - only north american (US/Canada/Mexico) Subaru radios are built by Panasonic/Matsushita - the rest are all built by Kenwood or Clarion and are completely different internally. EricSeattle
Thanks for looking into this, Jazzy. It's unfortunate that Apple has locked down their accessories. I develop iPad/iPhone apps and even looked into trying to create a developer-only app that would play through your iPhone connector using a private API, but apparently the audio out interface is disabled even if you load an app after the call starts (so the call is in the background.) SCHM1AN
Jazzy, is this worth waiting for or should I just go ahead and purchase the board you currently make? I am going on a road trip in June and would like to get some tunes through my phone (Blackberry 9330) Also, what is the price point you're hoping to hit? jazzymt
This project has stalled unfortunately. Too much going on around the house these days - baby on the way, honey do's and another project. I wouldn't wait around. I do want to finish it, but I've just got too much on my plate at the moment and although I want to finish before - if I don't it's hard to imaging things getting better once the baby is here this June. I don't know what to expect for assembly/PCB costs, but I would guesstimate a price point around $125-175. SCHM1AN
No problem-- thanks for the heads up! I'll be placing an order for the aux-in board soon. I hope all goes well with your family
jazzymt
Most of what's left is really just programming. Unlike my 'extra' hours, 'real' work is very slow these days - it may give me the opportunity to make some progress during daylight hours, but I don't want to make any promises - things change quickly around here too.
