Accord V6.. Ugh

Recommended Posts

So I'm cruising along at my own speed today, heading for a lane change that I needed to take for an onramp. So I come up to a last-gen Accord V6 on my right going probably about 55 and he quickly matches my speed nose-to-nose at about 70. O.. K.. I'm just cruising in 5th.. so I give it a little throttle so I can actually get into the lane. He keeps up. O.. K.. So now I'm at about 85 and I go WOT since the barrier is coming up, and I'd really like to take my exit. Take it to a 100 so I get about 1 car in front of him (and I know he's serious at this point because he's as close as he can get). Then the bastard pulls of the the highway. Man I wish I could have put it in 3rd or 4th and shown him what the legacy can really do..

So here's to you Mr. Honduh owner. I hope road rage is in your future. Yes, I was in 5th.

I had some fetushead in an accord pull out in front of me when i was leaving for work, then when i went to go around him he cut over and paced the car to the right. accord owners are fetusheads.

I 5th-geared a Chrysler Concorde once.

He merged into the middle lane of a 3-lane highway at about 50mph, and I had to hit the brakes to avoid hitting him. When I switched to the outer lane to go around, the stupid jerk floored it.

By 85 I was passing him, and by 110 he was toasted by several carlenths.

hmmm... people don't drive like that in japan... unless they drive bmw or a pimped out minivan...

point is, that was irresponsible for both of you. you could have let him pass and get in behind him, since you needed to go to offramp, he shouldn't be speeding up in (i assume) slow lane just to be "Racing with you"

in japan people let other people pass no matter what they are drivig. i may have my twin turbo in fast lane doing 140km/h, if i see someone in rear view mirror, i get to slower lane and let him pass, no matter if it's a ferrari or a (insert slowest car here). i am not a boring ass obay speed limit driver, and i do love to floor it and have second turbo take me to 180km/h but i don't favor any kind of competition on public roads and i do follow manners and common sense, and everyone else in japan does the same...

From the land that gave us such classics as "Initial D," I have a hard time believing you.

I don't believe that Initial D is Japanese, but rather Korean. I'd know better if I followed the series, but alas I don't.

Was it two door or 4? Manual or Auto?

Not to hijack, but I was pulling on to the freeway yesterday and I moved over one lane to pass the slowpoke in front of me. Well I noticed the car coming up in my new lane was approaching very quickly so I gunned it (still in 3rd) as to not make him brake too much. I saw in my rear view mirror that it was a MB and that he moved over to the left one more lane. I continued to accelerate as quickly as possible and expected to see him behind me still as I approached 85mph. Well, sure enough, while I'm still accelerating he creeps on by in the next lane. Then I see the rear of his car, couldn't make out the model, but I did see the "AMG" and then I understood. I figure for what he must have spent on his car he deserves to pass me at full throttle.

The 2 door Manuals are very quick for N/A.

Definitely not bad, but while playing with Winky (I don't get in to "competitions" on public roads any more, I'm both too old and too fat for steet-racing) -toying with her launch at various RPMs- last month, I accidentally totally smoked a V6 2-door.

She was nice - a middle-aged (crap, I'm approaching that barrier myself!) Black woman, and proceeded to really give the car a twice-over visually. Our windows were both open, so she shouted out, "Great looking car, very fast! I couldn't keep up from the light!" I smiled and gave her a thumbs-up. :) And no, she didn't know what it was, I had to tell her it was a Subaru.

Upon retrospect just another light later, I shouldn't have been playing with Winky when I was.... Although I was first-in-line at the light, I had paid little attention (my attention was focused on the cross-street, making sure that no-one wanted to run a red) and did not notice that the lady in the Accord had "lined up" in the adjacent lane - and further ignored the fact that she had been speeding prior to stopping at that light, and was a fairly aggressive driver (saw her cutting through traffic in my rearview).

Needless to say, I'm much more mindful now about launching - almost as careful as my days with the wheel-spin crazy TSi!

I don't sweat Accords at all. ;)

On the way back from the paint store this past weekend, a current generation V6 Accord (sedan = auto)with fairly large woman driver comes up (weaving through traffic) on my tail a high speed on a 45 mpf urban four lane street. After getting within 2 ft. of my bumper, she abruptly pulls into the right lane at a light where the right lane merges into one after roughly 3/10 mile. I have a manual, and give my GT 9/10 throttle, easily outpacing the Accord.

Evidently she took offense at not being able to cut me off and goes into a rage at the next light. Why do people drive as if they own the road?

^^^^^ ;) I knew that someone I "know" would come back and get me with this one.

My experience differs just a bit. I ran a co-worker on the highway (calm down, it was a short burst from 40 to 100) and if the guy/girl knows how to drive, they can stick to your bumper. I can shift faster than that 5sp will allow so its not my driving. I have a feeling that if the speeds are above the 100+ mark, the Accord will walk away.

The six speed moves, the Legacy is not invincible so give the Accord some credit.

Have to disagree with you there gaijin, I worked in Tokyo for a year, and had many sleepless nights as pumped up kids raced by on the highway outside my apartment, and from the noise I don't think they had any exhausts at all. I wish I still had that clip of the japanese F40 doing 300 kph on the highway in Tokyo !

I am not a street racer by nature, but I will defend my space on the road, if I have to accelerate to do that, then so be it !
