fighting chance?

Has anyone ever used fighting chance (fightingchance.com) to price dealer invoices on new cars? This great website, carbuyingtips.com, seems to promote it heavily as an excellent source of financial information before buying a new car. I read a lot about people getting prices below "invoice;" are people talking about dealer invoice? Evidently it is NOT the same as factory invoice.

I used "fighting chance" when I bought my Legacy. I've never had so much fun buying a car in my life. :D If you do as they say, and send faxes to a number of dealers, they end up bidding for your business. I sent 18 faxes, had 11 dealers respond, and soon had a bidding war going between 3 of them. I spent about $200 more where I bought only because they were local and had the car on the lot.

I did everything via fax and telephone until I had the deal I wanted. At that point I walked into the dealership at 6:00 that night, and drove out at 7:15. I dealt with the sales manager only, and didn't have to put up with any salesman BS.

When I bought last Sept, they weren't making quite the deals they are now, but I ended up right at invoice. I'll never buy another car the old fashioned way.

While I've never used fax, I am a HUGE fan of negotiations via email. I'm not familiar with Fighting Chance but consumer reports has a new car buying package that lists invoice and dealer holdback. However, they don't do a good job of keeping up to date on rebates, so check cars101.com for the latest on those.
