paintdrying
Sorry to ask a question that has been asked so many times but I am having trouble find a simple explanation. I have a 1996 subaru legacy wagon l I believe the 2.2 motor. My question is in the rear of the wagon between the cat and the muffler there is a joint. It is loose and leaking. Can I grind the bolts off and put a new nut and bolt in there. And what do I use between the two surfaces. A donut, a gasket, both? Rtv?There is wiggle in the joint. I live in Vermont so everything is going to be rusty as heck. If it is going to be that hard to seal maybe I should just cut the joint out all together and clamp a soup can in there.
