mele63
I just picked up the subwoofer today. In looking at the instructions, they show a tool for removal of underdash cover plugs. It looks like a screwdriver with a two-pronged, forked tip. Is this tool required to properly remove the plugs? Also, now I'm wondering, aren't these "plugs" going to be less effective after being ripped out and shoved back in? The last thing I want to to have a sloppy dash after re-assembly. Guest *Jedimaster*
I use a screwdriver. I have an old one and may cut out a "V" in it like the tool you mean.
NHLEG
If you're talking the pop screws, they're easy to remove. Give them a quarter turn with anything (i used a small screwdriver), the center should pop right out and then you just pull out the whole thing. And no, you can pop them in and out multiple times without a problem.

mele63
I'm just looking at the instructions. The fastener in question looks like a wingnut from the top in the illustration. It looks like a regular screw in another illustration (error?). It doesn't look like you are turning anthing, just prying in out. Rio and jedimaster, is that what I do, just pry them out? Or do I turn them first, like NHLEG says?
ih8vtec13
Turn then pry, its like 1/4 turn.
