bvallerand
I have a 1996 legacy L 2.2. The car is my temp beater since my other motor is in the machine shop. I drove the legg to the shop all was well. When i came out it ticked like a mofo. I was worried so i had it towed home. The tick was only on the left (cyl 2/4). My roomate and I pulled the rocker assembly and discovered the HLA's that needed to be bled. Bled them and put them back on. My roomate suggested, since its easy we should do the other side as well, preventative maint. We did, put them all back on, and it wouldnt fire at all!! Pulled all the plugs and cranked it for a bit. Let it dry out and put plugs back in and it runs!!! But only on 3 cylinders. Cylinder 3 is not firing. Tried swapping plugs from one to another and wires. still no firing on cylinder 3. pulled rockers off and rebled, still no cylinder 3. Its getting spark, the wire arcs like crazy if i pull it. but when i pull the plug its soaked in fuel. Any ideas? Im thinking either: timing, stuck open injector, or something wrong with the rockers or valves. This side was not ticking, neither side tocks now, 3 just doesnt fire. bvallerand
ALSO... There is no check engine light, We didnt touch anything other then the rockers, We checked for broken springs: none... We did each side separately so they were not mixed up.
